Why do you need to run on high quality unleaded?
Only if your sporting 9.0.1
I run my 2cv (8.5,1) on 95 Ron, and it runs fine. No different than that odd occasion on payday I put the high quality stuff in..
I wouldnt even bother putting in an additive either

The octane is one thing, but super unleaded has far less ethanol in it than normal unleaded. If you are driving through France or other EU countries do not be tempted to put E10 Unleaded in your tank, try to use Super/Super unleaded if you can.

At the moment a lot of testing is taking place to see what the effects of this will be on vehicles not designed for it, however I will say that I recommend that if you haven't replaced your original fuel line yet then this is something you should consider doing sooner rather than later. The fuels these days seem to attack the old style rubber.

In the UK we are luckier than most as we haven't got E10 yet and the FBHVC is working with the DfT and oil company reps to ensure that owners of classic cars (and yes 2CV's and A series are regarded as such) will be able to continue using their vehicles.

95 ron available all around here and never come across Bio fuel E-10 (Maybe I have been lucky). Had a long trip to Germany last year and filled up many times but always standard fuel selection in each station. Thanks for warning as wifes car uses standard 95 Ron

Run in the new engine and took it for a spin down to Vannes (400 kms) on route national. Sat there for most of the way at 5000 rpm (100kph) and returned 70km per gallon (around 44 miles per gallon). Not bad - I would like to see modern cars run at 5000 rpm for so long - it must be like driving one in 3rd gear - I wonder what mpg they would get. The oil temp (different thread) in the rocker covers only got above 50 deg C when I stop for petrol when it rose to 75 deg C until I started car and then the cooler oil took it back down.

Sounds like a great setup! Wishing you all the best 8-)

The 1 1/4 SU carby would be even better suited to the 2cv, more progressive, smoother control of the throttle. Even the Daewoo throttle body that I also use for my fuel injection is a bee's dick to big, but definitely the smallest, cheap alternative I could find in any scrap yard!
