Post Re: Willamis old car
So, a couple of weeks ago I asked Sam F if he'd mind helping me with the kingpins on the Ami, because my super turned mega cambered arms dont have any hubs on them. This week though, I decided I couldn't really be bothered to lower the car as I didn't have any proper springs and I already had one lowered car and I'd probably flog the Ami as I've been having bonding issues with it. I then asked Sam if he'd mind not bothering with the kingpins, but perhaps he could give me a hand slinging another engine in it as the one is has is bollocksed. This morning, however, we meet as arranged at my work and I've got the worst headache the world has ever known and no enthusiasm for putting an engine back together and taking the front off this car for the 5000th time this week, so all I can be bothered to do is break out the polish and try and make this shit old car look a bit more presentable for it's appearance later this week on eBay.

Sam not only turned up, didn't mind that I'd changed my mind twice on what I wanted help with, and cracked on with G3ing and waxing the Ami until it looked frankly like a completely different car to the one I'd driven into the workshop two hours earlier. It actually looks really, really good. With a lot more of the day available to us that we had realised we would have, we went to our local Aircraft museum and had a look round. On the way there, the bonnet came open twice, both times on the busy A27. It's a ten minute journey and I had two bloody breakdowns...

We went for a bit of a look around the site the museum is built on, which is an old RAF Aerodrome, and still has a couple of WW2 buildings on the site, such as the control tower...

The control tower is at the end of a large expanse of openly accessible runway. This meant some unrestricted hooning. The only downer was that the weather was too crap for us to fly my radio controlled P51 Mustang, and also that the BLOODY bonnet won't stay shut on the Ami.

Basically, Thanks Sam for helping me start liking the Ami, and for giving up your weekend to polish it because I couldn't be bothered.

I'll post photos of the hooning soon.

Looks good Russ, is that rear panel with lights original, or has it been changed?
