I like the kitchen unit style door handles on the rear doors, that is a more solid idea.

Well today I'm feeling rather sad. The MoT runs out this week. I understand that severe rust within 30 cm of a seatbelt mount is a fail... but what if there's no metal to actually rust??

I can only put so many riveted patches on the floors and I don't think its worth patching rusty panels so I think it's finally time for floors/sills/heals/lower bulkhead.

I'm actually quite impressed, there can't be many Portugese built cars that after 120,805 miles are still on their original floors having been used as daily drivers through winter, snow, salted roads, driven across beaches and fields, etc...

I've ordered some 1.6mm zintec floors and lower bulkhead from Mr Ken Hanna along with some galvanised outriggers to support the floors.

Why not use original panels? Because Ken makes something better. Replacement floors will have the same rust traps, seems and supports that go in original floors so using Ken's will negate all those issues and stiffen the shell up a bit too.

The (slight) added weight doesn't phase me, I've always used and abused this car so anything that makes it more abusable is a good thing.

So from later today she'll be sorned :(

On the other hand this is a perfect excuse to start using the Mehari a bit

Hi Sam,I didnt realise that Ken made floors etc.
Does he do them for our vans?

Best PM and ask Dave - van floors are shorter with bigger humps aren't they?
