For no other reason than i'm bored, i thought i'd start a thread on my lovable old heap...

I sold my rather splendid Acadiane back in July '10 & wanted something at the opposite end of the spectrum; something ropey & with a bit of character - i think i got that in spades.

I spotted it on eBay in January '10 - being advertised as 'for spares only' - but with a start bid of £500 - some money for a scrapper. It finished with a bid & that was that. Fast forward to July & it's back up again, being sold by the fellow who bought back in January - turns out he'd paid to get it delivered & it had just sat on his driveway & now he needed the space...

I got in contact with Rhythm Thief & as he was pretty much on the doorstep kindly agreed to go & have a looksie. I decided it should probably come & live with me in Cornwall, so after supping a few beers during the afternoon i stuck in a bid with just seconds to spare & was shocked to find i'd won it. Now how to get it home - driving it wasn't an option; it had no Tax or MoT.

I stuck up a wanted advert for transporting it from Gloucester to Cornwall on 'Shiply' & had several quotes - the best being £130, so i went with it. Eventually it turned up:

I must admit that i very nearly stuck it straight back on eBay - but after a few beers i decided i would give it a bash & try & get it back on the road without spunking loads of cash...

So, between late July & late August i worked on it at every available opportunity & was rewarded with an MoT certificate on the Friday of the International - which i drove straight to - a distance of some 200+ miles, this it turns out, was completed with a surgical glove in the carb! ;)

Yes, it's a shed, but that's why it appeals so much to me. It's how i remember most 2cvs looked at meetings back in the 80s & early 90s.

I've done about 9,000 miles in it since last August - not a great deal, but then i cycle to work. It went to Spa, in Belgium for the 24hr last year & it got me & Russ 1500 miles down to Salbris & back.

This is the best place in the world ever and if I could do, I would never, ever leave.

I love sheds. When I went to look at it, I wished I'd spotted it before you did. :) All 2CVs should look something like this one.

This car is spot on Neil, great pictures and it looks perfect. Its what owning an A-series all about. Funnily enough, I had the exact same feeling when I sold the Acadiane, it was almost too nice in a way, especially to be used like I was using it. I'm also hankering after something like this.

Thought I recongnised that car, as spent most of the Chunnel train journey back from The Salbris meeting squatted down along side the drivers window!! With ours a few spaces behind in the next carriage!
