Post Re: 1987 2CV Bamboo
You could read the whole thread but here's an abridged version:

I bought a smashed up dog for £50, slapped some battered wings on it, lowered it, had a local yobbo tag it, broke down more times than I care to remember, then sold it for what it'd cost me (actually quite a bit less) to Spanners. He swapped it for a red special previously owned by Louise and owned at the time by a bullshitting gobshite called Brian. Brian owned the bamboo briefly but either his rock and roll online persona collided with his real life squeaky middle aged brummie persona, or, he was simply into 2cvs as a way of making money, so it got sold on at a 100% markup after a weeks ownership. The guy who bought it from him for far too much money then added another £600 to the price a week later, lied through his teeth on ebay about how amazing it was and all the parts it had which I can tell you for a fact it didnt. He then claimed it'd been sold and shipped to Australia when some folk on 2cvgbs forum mentioned the breif ownership combined with the massive price hike smelt a little like profiteering and the same trick Brian the gobshite had tried a couple of weeks earlier.

The guy who's got it now paid thirty times what I did for exactly the same turd, only now he's stuck with something he was told could be adjusted to standard and found out that unless he changes the entire suspension he's going to spend the whole time smashing it into the road and further damaging the chassis which has now worn through the front kick up.

Here endeth the tale of E866 DBL so far...

Does the new owner know about all this? Is he pissed? (as in 'cross' not 'inebriated'...)

If so, it's a very straight-forward task to get recompense from the gentleman who sold it to him. I know it was a 'private' sale, but the goods MUST be 'as described'.

There are things that can be done. And legal stuff too...

hmmm yes but in the real world is someone really gonna be sued or whatever over a 20 year old shed of a citroen(no offence to anyone whose owned this  ) but it's not really gonna happen is it?

Obviously your right and an item should be described for what it really is, but there is plenty of material these days that help people not buy a shed. I can name plenty of books like that just for the 2cv alone.... I know thats not the point, but...

Can't help feeling sorry for the guy, but what fool pays that kind of money for a car without knowing what he's buying?

That was most amusing! Especially when he was telling me that they had tried but *just* couldn't get the beast to sit right!

It's going to be about as much use as a strap-on on a nun on the bumpy and crappilly maintained roads in these parts! ...ah, well, Russ, he's got yer number.

Thick Fenland yokels.....

Note I am a fenland yokel, but not thick... ;)
