steering arms get the racer treatment

Shanked Hi tensile 12.9 M8s stronger than welded up arms.

altho this car wont go on a raid its going to be tough as old boots.

Stronger. If I could have found some m8 10.9 or 12.9 fine threaded bolts I'd have used them, the flywheel bolts are too short for stepped part of the arm and id have to buy a set of fine taps.

we had found that m7 stretched allowing the joint to fret, so welded the arms and found that the weld was often cracked at the end of the 24hr

never had a problem with this set up on the other car or ours since we did this

OTT for a lazy cruiser but there was evidence that the thread in the housing had been dammaged and repaired with chemical metal or the like -a triumph of hope over eingineering. So rather than replace the hub drilled and tapped in situ.
