Couple of self tappers did the trick in the end:

then I smoothed off the join with a bit of Milliput (waterproof, dead easy to sand etc) to cut down on the tendency of these things to scratch the door as they shut

Finally, adjusted the catch and now it shuts like a dream.

Had the same problem with passenger door window - I used a metal - metal adhesive as a quick fix before I went to Coventry for the weekend and it still seems to be holding up a treat!

Silver soldering works ok on stainless the only draw back I can see might be distortion from the localised heat. I haven't had this problem yet it was mentioned to me by an ex 2cv owner,I feel that letting the window slam shut maybe the cause.I fitted a couple of stainless steel self adhesive hooks upside down above the catch,so i can shut the window one handed even whilst driving as shown in the following shotImage

Great idea Banjo - will definately steal that and add it to the list of things to do! I really dislike slamming it when I need to shut it quickly as otherwise need to open the door - not good on a motorway in the rain at 65mph!

One minor thing I forgot is that the self adhesive pads on the hooks degraded in the sun,so I stuck them back on with mirror adhesive from Tool Station.http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Adhesiv ... 199/p14262
Sticks like sh-- to a blanket!!

Just took a look at my car's registration docs, and realised that this weekend is the 10th anniversary since I bought it! Cripes! 10 years?! Where does the time go etc. etc.

Dashboard light doesn't work. So I wrestled the dash forward, and took a look at the light and the fitting. This is what I saw:

Question is: is there a cable missing here? Should there be another lead, attaching to the connector shown on the left in the pic?
