I dropped the tank last week and replaced that wanky bit of pipe off the sender unit which falls apart and renders a 2cv useless without notice and the fuel gauge now doesn't work.

I really hope you take it to Snet Russ as there's nothing I'd like more than to take your tank out and sort the sender wiring.......

So, pop-pickers, if I stuck an MOT on this, what would be a fair reserve on eBay? or, perhaps do I mean what should I stick it on 2cvTV for? As it is, wheels, suspension and shit too.

No plans to at the moment. I'm wondering if about £2250 would seem fair? Seems average in these days of high prices on 2cvs? Maybe a £2k reserve on ebay? or am I being optimistic?

If it doesn't sell it'll sit in the garage for another god-knows how long and I won't have a useful bundle of notes in my back burner.

What are you going to buy instead? Why not go for an elderly Land Rover? That should save you money (ho ho).

There's a lot I'd like, Trabants, RWD Ladas, rear engined Skodas, all stuff I've never had before, but if the 2cv is worth the right money and it finds a buyer then I should have enough wedge saved to buy a decent Escort, ideally a mk2 4dr ghia, which is the model I covet most. I've recently received a little bit of inheritance (lost both my grandparents earlier this year) and selling the 2cv would hopefully give me enough to buy a good Escort which would hopefully always be worth a good price, they're not getting any cheaper certainly. I contemplated a few other ideas, I wanted to buy a Daimler ferret, a really good W123, an Ami saloon but all of these have practical day to day drawbacks. I might wait until after Christmas as I don't know if people are wanting to spend money on cars at this time of year.
