We tried it with and without the (new) air filter. I wonder if it's anything to do with the engine having new pistons, rings and valves. It has done about 40-50 miles since the engine was built and stood for at least a year since the engine was built. I'm not going to cock about with it, I'm going to fit another carb (I think the threads a bit wrecked for the mixture screw which may also be a contributory factor in being unable to adjust it) and check it at the test centre Friday morning, if it's still the same ill throw another engine in it over the weekend.

Well I had to work in London last Friday so the retest didn't happen. It's booked in this Friday though, so fingers crossed. I could really do with using this again. I might use the 425 for the rest of the week as the suns out. Once this cars back on the road I'd like to get the clutch changed on that one. Driving it any distance is tiresome .

Finally passed an mot this afternoon, just. Tried every trick in the book and it was barely running but we managed to squeak an emissions pass. Now to tax it, lower it until the axle bolts are on the floor and I think a set of new wheels are in the pipeline too. Oh yeah, and also I need to adjust the idle, mixture etc so it ticks over right and pollutes the planet like it's supposed to.

Nice one! Are you putting those Peugeot wheels on it?

It's got those wheels on at the moment, but the world and his dog have got them now so I want to get some 7x14 ford fitment superlites or weller motorsports for it. It means making hub adaptors which I don't know where to start with, but it'll be worth it not to have clitoris wheels.
