Our AZ engine is much worse!

Re: 1979 Jaune Mimosa 2CV DrMagic oven cleaner from your ££ shop, B&M or the 99p bit in Asda brings engine cases up a treat as well as de-coking the heads ....best bit is it doesnt seem to eat the ally, rinse it off with hot water and then spray with wd40 and make sure its dry or itll end up furrier than those heads.
put the valves in a drill ( either pillar or just a B&D in the vice) and spin them up and de coke with a bit of hack saw and then either emery or steel wool to polish them right up.
obviously dont be a bobby and be sensible with dangly bits and fingers

Re: 1979 Jaune Mimosa 2CV Thanks Sean, I'll go down the cheapy shop tomorrow and get a load of that stuff. I have to get my vice restored before I do too much, reckon I'm going to powdercoat it white.
Reckon it's ok if any water and shit gets into the crankcase? I'm sure if I flush it out with summat it'll be ok, what's the worst that'll happen?
I'm going to make some new oil feed pipes like Sean does, and refurb the breather with a kit that Subarupete gave me. I'm bang into doing stuff for cheaps where I can. I'll do a how-to as and when I get around to it.

Re: 1979 Jaune Mimosa 2CV I couldn't find Dr Magic but I bought some other cheapo pound shop oven cleaner, It's not too bad but I'm still going to have to pressure wash the engine to get most of the crap off. I reckon there's good money waiting out there for the person who invents a spray on engine cleaner that makes all the accumulated shite fall off and leaves the engine shiny and sparkling with absolutely no effort at all.

No Asda near by  soften the real claggy bits with brake cleaner first

Re: 1979 Jaune Mimosa 2CV And than hop in the oven for half an hour at 150 degrees After an treatment with degreaser i had most times a good result at the carwash with hot water plus shampoo high pressure cleaning. Only the carswash wasn't to happy..
