I took it out with a screwdriver, but it got damaged , so I have to buy another one.
Many thanks for your advice.
I am just angry about that bloke who advised me wrong. If you sell and advice 2CV parts you should know how to apply them , or otherwise keep your mouth shut.

The reason the seal was the other way round on the scooter is because it was a 2 stroke and it was to stop air being sucked in to engine ( the seal would also be double lipped)

No its not double lipped and its something to do with both the crank bearings and seals being lubricated by the gear oil on this model (maicoletta 250) as opposed to by the 2 stroke petroil mix and a weird chamfer on the crank (i think only on early models too  ) which requires the seal to be fitted with the spring side away from the crank pressure whereas on more conventional 2 stroke scooters like vespa and lambretta the crank seals are fitted the normal way, with the spring side toward the crank pressure.
But such is the rarity of them being fitted like that is what made me pipe up.

Last week I managed to finish the work on the engine.
I got some new seals and put them in , the right way now.
Although this bloke from the shop still insists that the seals should be put in the other way round.
So i finished the engine, and now I am working on the front brakes.
I decided to refurbish the brake shoes as well as the drums and the brake cylinders on both sides .
After that I will replace the complete clutch mechanisme, disc , bearing and fork.
The gearbox is in good shape, so i do not have to bother with that .

Hopefully we will find time soon to carry on on the body. I finally found a lefthand doorsill for an 2cv van.

Today i found time to start rebuilding the van again.
Now my son has almost completed the rebuild of his Mazda, we both have time and space to carry on rebuilding my AZU.
Beautyfull weather, enjoyed working on the van today!
Now I'll have a shower, a meal, and than a glass of wine.
Tomorrow duty calls again .

Post Re: MY AZU B 1974
I haven't found anymore time to spend on the restoration of my AZU.
As I also have a job to do in earning money for living.
As a self employed gardener I find it difficult to get enough jobs lately.
People do suffer from governmental cuts on everything and the housing market is very bad.
Many houses are for sale for a long period of time .
This has also it's effect on gardening.
So I have begun to drive a taxi in the weekends for a local taxi-company. During the week I work as a gardener, and in the weekends I am a taxidriver.
That means that I have less spare time , consequently less time for the restoration of my AZU .
It does not mean that the restoration has stopped, but there is less progress, and the restoration will take longer than expected.
Still I hope to finish the welding on the body before winter comes and I can finish the restoration next winter and spring.
At the moment a local garage is trying to get the righthand kingpin replaced.
I tried every trick in the book to get the old kingpin out, but it did not move a bit.
The garage is better equipped, but they also have problems getting the old kingpin out.
Now the whole suspention arm is immersed in an oily fluid and they hope to get the kinpin out after the weekend. I hope it will work and we can carry on soon .
