Post My 1974 2CV van
Hello,
After long consideration I decided to start a Thread about the restoration af my 2 2cv AZU B from 1974.
I bought it in February 2010 from a local dealer in NL. It was "in good , and driving condition"
but it turned out to be worse than expected.
After some negotiations about the price I finally bought it and now I am trying to restore it with help of my son.
First we started on the body, but now winter is coming I think we go on with the chassis, engine , suspention and gearbox.
Things we can do in our garage. For the work on the body we need more space , so we will continue next spring when the weather is better .

My son is better in welding than I am, so he takes the most credit in welding..
But he is not always very motivated , so then I do the job , which is not so easy for a gardener !

But We carry on , and hopefully we will be able to attend the Dutch 2CV van meeting next year with our AZU

That is looking good. Is the colour original? I'm wondering if it is an EDF van or if it has a normal colour code. EDF is AC 615.

The colour is AC 639, Blue Lagune, but it has had a respray even over the rust, probaly to make a better price.
I was glad that my brother came along when I purcased the car. He owns a 2CV Berline from 1985, so knows the weak points of a 2CV , and in case of a van there is not so much difference between an AZU and a 2CV Berline .
We did not find any hidden problems when taking the car apart , thanks to his knowledge.
He actually pointed out what the problems were and what the hidden problems could be, and in all cases he was right.

Geert,
nice van and some very good work on it, but would it be wrong of me to suggest that your son should _always_ wear protective clothing, including gloves, when welding?
The effects on skin of exposure to the rays generated during welding may not become apparent until years afterwards... :(

@Ken,
You are quite right!
This picture was taken after we had called it a day, and my missus came in with a camera , because she wanted to take some pics for the family-album.
So this is a posed picture, my son did not fancy to change in his overalls again.
But you are right it is very important to wear protective clothing.
My son works in the metal-industry , so he knows about the dangers , and is very aware of the risks.

Last night the polythene tunnel I do the restoring in was flooded!!
Fortunately I took everything out before so nothing is damaged, but I can't go on with the work this weekend, I had to store everything in my garage, so there is no room left .
We had severe rain the last couple of days , but I really did not expect the tunnel would be flooded.
The forecast is not good either so, we'll have to wait and see when we are able to continue the work.
Anyway, I don't expect us to finish the car before end of next year .
