Erm ... OT, sorry :) , but today I've built up the rest of the brakes and scavenged the inner driveshafts off my disc brake gearbox. Tomorrow - if I get up in time - I'll be adjusting the brake shoes, then the gearbox can go back in.

There are some pictures, but I don't want to use my Nikon with oily hands so I've been taking them with my phone. How I get the photos off the phone and onto the computer is a mystery to me ... if I ever work it out I'll post them here.

Here's a photo of it with no engine in.

It looks much the same as that now, but outside. And I've left the front wings on it.

I'm still interested in that engine, if you can get hold of it.

Well. I've put the gearbox - a later drum brake box fitted with 4.5mm brake cylinders - back in today. The next hurdle is the clutch cable, which (wouldn't you know it) has a different fitting at the pedal end than the later clutch cables. I'd have thought I could get a cable made up easily enough if I send someone like Elmill Products all the necessary fittings, i.e. the pedal to cable fitting off the old cable, and the clutch arm to cable fitting and the threaded adjuster off the new one, but does anyone know of a better solution?
Other options include bodging the clutch cable to fit a later cable fitting to it or (best but most expensive option) having the original gearbox rebuilt and refitting it.

Any pics of the old style attachment at the pedal end?
Would it be possible to make an adaptor, or even replace the little 'hanger' which is attached to the pedal with a clevis pin? :?

ken.

I'll get some pics of it all tomorrow, but basically the old pedal just has a hook on the end of it into which the cable end fits. I don't think it'll be a problem to get the pedal off, drill a small hole in the end and fit a later cable attachment to it. But I have no doubt it'll prove much more difficult than I think it should be.
