been looking for a 2cv for a while - realised that in south africa i m not getting joy - so moved my vision to europe - to find one in germany but no lhd allowed - ended up in scotland!

my story - in short- always wanted a duck - never seen one before in south africa - on holiday in europe saw them and just new i needed one-bought a charleston over internet in scotland -never before sat in a 2cv-flew there and drove it to southampton - 781km to put it on a ship-arrived 18days later in port elizabeth - 940km in 2 days to cape town - only trouble was the coil had to be replaced as it was the original and when hot the motor cut - drove mostly 100km/hour - nil oil used-consumption varied between 16 and 19 km/litre - battled with the gear change at first (not the cars fault) but much better now - just absolutely love it
