Bugger it...
Got everything plumbed in wired it all up turn the key and a very sluggish turn over and some sort of bloody scrapping noise coming from the bell housing yet again...

Quite a few swear words B******S, S**T, W****R etc etc...so out with the engine hoist and 10 mins later engine out again.. only to discover the bastard clutch cable had come loose from the release arm thingy and was hard up against the pressure plate...Hence the scrapping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick adjustment, ie put cable back in release arm, Engine back in plumbed up and turned over lovely.......Now got no fuel coming into the pump.....Bugger...

Got to 10pm by this stage so called it a day until 2moro evening when I'll attack it again hopefully with a better result this time.............

Matt,
applying a bit of air pressure at the filler neck end should help prime the fuel pump.

ken
( Hoping that was a 'scraping' sound, not a 'scrapping' one... )

Ok the saga continues,

Got the tank topped up gave it a blast or two with the air line...but nowt!!!

So up on the ramps and quickly dropped the tank.. One of the little jobs I stipidly didn't do When cleaning the components of the beast, I flushed the tank but didn't touch the sender unit...D'oh
Once removed the sender unit was caked in crap, gave it a good soaked in petrol and looked a lot better.

So Tested it out with a bottle of petrol with the sender dipped in it and hooked that up to the tank side of the pump turn the engine over and nowt came out the other side (pipe going to carb)!!??

Put finger over the pipe going into the carb and bubbles appeared in the bottle with the petrol and sender in!!! whats going on there???????

Sounds like pump valve knackered.

Recieved an email from Rob @Chevronics saying the pumps very rarely fail,

Is it more the system needs a helping hand ie fuel blown or sucked through it before it will work properly!!??
Hence why the sender in bottle trick wasn't working...??

Yep,
hence original suggestion of pushing petrol up to the pump to prime it.

They tend to pump liquid better than air... ;)
