Ok Then

Here are some pics of the strip down and rebuild of what was once the build of Jon aka Spanners. some of you may remember it..

Car was delivered via transport company (as I couldn't be arsed to drive down to john stenhouse's place to pick it up for myself!!)
on Friday the 20th of July 2010...

Should be back together in a couple of weeks, just waiting for clutch, discs and a few gaskets and bits to turn up etc before I can put the engine and box back together and back in..

Just got the driveshafts back from being sorted, look the dog bollocks now though they should as they cost a fair bit!!

I'm already loving this thread Matt, can't wait to see this old girl in the flesh again. 8-)

Can't believe I sold it when I bought a BX GTi in the hope that I'd keep my licence a bit longer. Actually, I've not yet managed to lose my licence so it obviously worked!

Keep up the good work Matt. 8-)

Cheers will do!

Quite like that exhaust you did, still looks pretty solid..Might see if I can get it copied in stainless....Did it sound good when it was running.????? .as I'm a week or so from firing the beast up!!

Have had the help from a couple of mad keen enginneering students... only took 5 hours to strip the whole thing down, since then I've just been cleaning repairing painting and putting back together really, can't believe how spotless the chassis is, can't believe its almost 35 years old..looks almost new in places!!

Alas, I can't take credit for the exhaust, that was (I believe) Richard Daltons haed work. The exhaust I fitted was a Y piece, GS centre pipe and Peugeot 205 GTi back box which sounded absolutely amazing but it hung a little bit low..... :ugeek:
