Hi Joe, thanks! Is yours the grey & grey out plymstock/countryside way (see the pic in your footer)

James re. Iridiums... they are all I run on my boat for long haul races, really noticed the difference on this at first and then thought.. hmm.. the 2cv is a hot little engine.. I wonder.. you'll probably only notice them on long runs when the engine gets hotter but yes a difference! If around town then just use the normal ngk range. Definately ngk though.

Nice looking car. Like the look of the front of it with the paperclips and narrow lighting bar 8-)

fritz,
isn't the heat range of a plug much more relevant, rather than the type of metal used for the centre electrode?

B6HS (or BP6HS) is the current equivalent of what Citroen recommended for A series engines back in those days when leaded fuel was still available.
Because our engines _will_ run hotter on unleaded fuel, especially if they haven't been rejetted to compensate for the 'leaning' effect of certain additives in unleaded fuel, I use B7HS in cars whose owners mostly potter around town, but B8HS for those which are driven harder.

Furthermore, because an A series' double-ended coil always fires one plug in the 'correct' polarity and the other one in reverse polarity, any advantage of having a more durable centre electrode won't be realised unless the coil's low tension polarity is reversed at regular intervals (or the plugs physically swapped from one side to the other.)

Joe,

Don't originate from Plym town but came to uni there in 2003, finished 2008 and haven't left the SW.. just bought a place up in peverell/hartley area as it happens (shall be extending the garage in aug/sept to accomodate more a-series!), feel free to pop up with the 2cv for a beer when you're back at uni.

Haha.. cuba.. I know it well.. too well probably! Park out the front there sometimes for town/night out..

Here's some pics from my uni days with the canoe/kayak club...

Hi Neill,

Where did you take that piccie? What do you drive? Do you know John from Plymstock with the 2cv, Manx & H-van? Also Kevin with the pick up & lomax towards exeter? Only know sam with his super cool old van (though that got written off i think?) apart from them in plym.

fritz

Hey Fritz,

I didn't actually take that picture, it's just one i stumbled across on the 'net - i knew i recognised the car so saved it to my hard drive!

I know John Rowe & Kevin Ashton - Kevin is an active member on here. You're right about Sam's AZU; it got twatted back in January time & bent the arm, wing, headlamp bar, & bent the original 50 year old chassis!

He's since bought a complete front clip for it off 2cv city - a left over from a ripple that was being 'modernised'... He's currently driving a white special with independent Citroen specialist sign-writing on the doors while he gathers stuff for the van rebuild. Don't really know a great deal of other A-series in Plymouth TBH. There's another Bamboo with large daisies up the sides - think it belongs to a Pyschiatric nurse! There's a green 3-wheeled Falcon kit car that's a regular sight. There's a very faded but solid F reg Black & Maroon Charleston in the Lipson area. Oh, & some old dear has a lovely X reg castille red special with a yellow roof & tube bumpers!

Nice to see you've stuck with yours through thick & thin. Looking forward to seeing it's makeover!

cheers, Neil.

The main benefit I found with Iridium-cored plugs was that they were still going strong after 30,000 miles (with regular-ish switching from side to side) - this offset the purchase cost rather well!

You didn't used to live in the Barnham/Littlehampton/Bognor area did you?

There used to regularly wave at a bamboo on the A27. In fact, I've spoken to the owner twice - once when I parked behind them in Arundel by swanbourne lake and once they stopped because I was at the side of the road with hazard flashers on (i wasn't broken down, just parked)

IIRC it sometimes had a boot box on.... was it you...?
