Post Re: Yet another red spesh...
About to drive this to work for the last time in a very long time. The MOT is up today and I can't be bothered with it any more. So, this evening it's going to lose it's springs, front arms and wheels and sit on blocks until some such time I can spare a day to make it saleable, or until it's run out of good parts and isn't worth saving any more. Must admit I'm a bit sad, it's not been a bad car it's just I'm bored of it and want a change. Going to build my yellow car up instead. Watch this space.

Maybe, once it's sat there at work, you'll feel inspired to get on with the BMW conversion........?

That said, looking forwards to seeing the yellow one back on the road.

This part of the cars life has been brought to a close, it'll sit dormant in the barn now until I have finished the AX racecar and the yellow 2cv and everything else I've got on.

It's last journey for a while upon the works FLT up onto the stands so I can rob the arms and cans off it.

It was a good chance to see how the rushed and slapdash welding work I'd done to it a year ago to get it back onto the road had held up. The chassis was full of crushed iron shotblast medium, which was asking for it really, but so far the chassis has taken a serious pounding and gone through several axle bolts but is as solid as they day I rebuilt it. It would have helped if I'd larrupped the cans and the threaded slider things in coppaslip as they had started to rust, thankfully they weren't a problem but when I reassemble them I'll pay more attention to details like that.

The rack was full of water.

This is the rear heel I replaced both parts as well as the sill and floor and it still looks quite passable for a slapped together rushjob. Without blowing my own trumpet, it's better than some of the dogshit that supposed specialists knock out.

The bulkhead and front of the floor/sill is also looking pretty solid still. I might even fill it full of waxoyl when it's laid up so it may stand a chance of lasting another year on the road.

Burton trackrod adjuster is seized solid, broke a spanner, god knowns how it's going to come off, but I think it'd be easier to bin it and buy a new one.

And that's that for a fairly long time, unless I stack the yellow one or I suddenly have a pressing urge to fix it again. It's been a good old crate really, a years motoring for about £700 isn't bad in these days, and there's still a fairly decent car left over at the end of it all. It'll return, one day....

Kudo's for getting so much done on this car in the time you had it. Holding onto it is a good idea, I can see this ending up with a "specialist" and sold on for silly money.

That's the thing, it's worth bugger all but you know if I sold it onto somebody it'd turn up on ebay for £2500 within a week. I can't afford to replace it so unless I get a swap for something I want more I'll just keep it myself.
