Do you want to borrow my '66? Perhaps she'll spring for the whole house that way

Re: Yet another red spesh...
The body is off now. Sort of. I'd like to meet the grade 'A' tool who welded this car up before. This patch was welded over another patch which in turn was welded over the rusty floor, and the hole which allows access to the bolt that holds the body to the spring can mounting on the chassis. Nice one.... It looks like I've come to a grinding halt now though, as the shell is completely free of the chassis, but the chassis can't be wheeled out as the axle stands it's supported on are the same distance apart as the wheels are, I'm hoping the old man's going to be home in a bit and give us a hand to get the body up a bit higher on a bit of 4"x2", so we can get the chassis out. I also need his assistance to lift the new chassis onto the roof of the ami so I can get it home from the lock up and start building it up. No real problems so far, but the lack of new fixings might prove to hinder me a little when it comes to removing the suspension, and the lack of £££ to buy the panels it needs will probably hinder me even further.

Oh, and this would have been done much sooner if I hadn't been distracted by beer and cigarettes.
There's a lesson there, kids:
Relax, take your time, and always, *always* work pissed up with a fag in your mouth. It makes you feel happier and look cooler. FACT.

Re: Yet another red spesh...
Daddy came back and gave me a hand, sadly it means I've wasted an hour today doing bugger all. I wish I hadn't gone to work this morning as I could have had the chassis built up by now, but never mind, tomorrow's another day. So, game plan tomorrow, build the new chassis up, maybe service the engine, then whack the shell back on it as I can't afford new floors and sills, bulkhead and rear heel, so that's where it'll have to stop for the time being, until the bank balance improves (next update june 2054) I realise most have you will have done all this before, and this thread is probably well boring, but I'm quite proud of it, I've never rechassid a 2cv properly before, at least, I've never finished it, and I've found the day rather theraputic...

I'd rather do it properly if I can, espescially now it's at this stage. If it was just a case of tart it up a bit for the MoT I'd have bodged it right up, and then when it all fell apart, used it as a doner for something else.
