I think Viking and Rick P recommend GL4. Apparently GL5 has something in it (sulphides?) which is not so good for the synchro rings.

Yep, I put a litre of GL4 in yesterday from 'frauds. £8.99

It's my new mission in life to remind people to change their gearbox oil as regularly as engine oil!

Don't pay nearly ten quid a litre for it ...

Good place to buy engine oil too.

Steady on, Sam,
at 12,000 miles or annually would be OK, wouldn't it?

( A couple of 20 litre drums of Smith&Allan's GL4 in stock.)

So its been a while since inupdated this

Not much to report

Had the new bits welded in now, all looks good

Next problem is the wiring too the headlights is crap the headlight end where it splits, it has fallen a part

I thought this was a good time since i had the loom unrapped to upgrade the wire size from 1.5mm squared up to 2.5mm wire why? Well im running hallgen headlight bulbs, and the wire looked like in a previous life it had suffered a bit of a melt, so good chance to replace!!

Ive not used the car properly since london to brighton, which depresses me, and im so busy i have this sinking feeling i wont get all the niggly little jobs done before the winter draws in

On my list of jobs to do give the new floors ans lower bulkhead a blasting of waxoyl with the parafin gun,
Ill do this next week if the weather permits me to do so!!
and also need to apply 2 more coats of zinc 182 too the floors, inside,

Then the car is set for another 24 years of abuse!!!

But what has started to annoy me, not wishing to beat about the bush, is the way people say a 2cv is an investmant sadly for them its not that for me

id love too still own this car in 30 years time knowing the chequered past and tribulations

Anyway enough bollocks

Ordered loom tape and zinc 182 progress report after it arrives!!

Much loveness

Wow didnt realise i havent updated this for so long...

So seeing as the 'mrs has opted to sleep in the spare room i can waiste time on the ipad..

Alots changed,

Its wierd, so since the passing on of my old man, ive become alot more attached to my 2cv i always vowed id never sell it, but have been tempted at times, but genuinly wouldnt want to now...

My old man basically bought me this car (well my cash ) but he picked, viewed, and negotiated for me
I think he was re-living his 2cv fantasy again...
The day i collected it was the last time i saw my grandma (who i was unbelievbly close with), in the hospice...

On the whole the car means alot...

So this week i slung it in for a MOT.. After some hassle it passed, and then parked up the 106 and havent seen it since...

Forgot how much i love driving the 2cv...

Anyway with everything in life it needs some fettling..
I last year forgot to do the fan bolt up and as id been to bone idle to put the fan guard on so the fan subsequently jumped off smashing the mesh behind the grill.. Doh..

So i ordered a sexy stainless one which ill fit this week.

I also ordered some burton dump tubes as im pissed off ith the paper dump tubes...

Also on the agenda is to remove the shit partially blocking the oil cooler - monday after work's job who knows maybe ill have a field day and fix everything...

Im really looking forward to summer and actually using the car for a change... :)
