my boot isnt actually that rusty well not at all
its a preventative so we will see what happens in time
also just out to try and sort leak out in vent flap
think its the rubber seal - any advice would be great thanks worn wiper spindles are also worth checking for as they are a common place for water to enter. take them out and grease them, also check the rubber washers as they tend to perish, mine stopped leaking after i greased em good and proper. but long term im going to need to replace them.

Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
ok thanks for that well ive had trouble getting the wiper moter away / free as its all rusted solid (well motor its self isnt) and i also dont know what bolts i need to undo i then noticed (well noticed a while back) that the seal on the vent was a bit blubbery dont know how to describe it... but yes, so i undid the last 3 bolts using a 7/32 socket and pulled the seal away suitable enough to put some grease down there. i used the grease as a TEMPORY measure only, as i will probably buy a new seal for the vent flap, im sure its coming through the vent flap as its leaking both sides at the very end of the flap, so i put some grease down there just to fill any gaps down there for the time being i used a fair amount of grease and as i tightend it up i had the good view of a ooz! after i wiped away the grease, and you can see what i mean about the seal about it blubbery as i put it!

The main problem seems to be that it forms a relatively hard skin or crust, but when that's perforated, rust will continue to spread underneath the apparently sound paint. ken I can only confirm that. Worked on several 2cv the last 10 years down under and all of the cars ''covered'' in POR 15 is now flaking off big time. After seen that I can no longer recommend POR 15. I am using Brush Cote body deadener which contains oil and stays on the metal no worries.

make sure you have prized the wipers off the spindles first and like louis said, the de-mister, i think only the passenger side one need to be undone to pull it out. to swap the wiper parking position, you need to swap the little arm that comes off the wiper motor spindle round 180 degrees. I did it two days ago when i changed the wiper motor, i should have taken photos. but it will make sense when you look at it. neil has a good page he scanned in somewhere. this could elaborate on it too, http://www.wessex2cvclub.co.uk/wessex2cvclub_021.htm

Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
well as ive bought and paid for it a while back i thought i might as well try it... anyway boot is not had its second coat photos: with regards to remioving the wiper motor, its these two bolts shown in this picture the top 2 in that photo.... i have undone them and had no joy, as that black metal thing wont budge am i doing something wrong? i got fed up of wipers and was playing around with the wiring and pulled one wire off and wherever i turn them off they turn off and stay where they are, would rather park them properly though, will print that sheet off and investigate!

It won't budge unless you have also removed the wipers and the securing nuts under them. Why black POR?
