or maybe the appropriate amount of *'dash' wasn't provided?

I still remember when the engineering company which I worked for was obliged to take up 'partnership' with a Nigerian counterpart when tendering for work on a projected Trans-African Highway.

Every time one of the partners went out to Lagos, there were suitcases full of goodies to cart along, some of which contained M&S suits, of all the things to choose...

* “dash” – the “sweetly quaint custom of expressing gratitude in anticipation of services about to be rendered”

Post Re: 1966 RHD belgian AZL, home at last!
Well, I simply couldn't resist and had to buy it back from that very nice man,
Gary Dicks. 'Dorcas' is home at last, although God alone knows how long it will take me to get her back to some semblance of order. The chassis is categorically broken and terminally rusty but, as part of the deal, Gary is supplying a running 1965 rolling chassis. I intend to use only the chassis as I would like to keep the car as original as possible and in any case, I'll have to use the original front axle. I shall need many other parts, although a lot of the 'unobtanium' parts are still there.
She's sitting in my drive now, soaking up some sunshine after many days of rain. Nice to see the sun out to greet her. Please let it be a good omen!

The dash on the right is the 6volt one, but may be in KPH.

Awww mate,

Well happy you got the old girl back. I'd noticed you back on the forum recently & it did cross my mind that you may've managed to secure the car!

Looking forward to lots of updates! 8-)

Neil

The one on the right seems to come from a French produced 2Cv not from one produced in Belgium.
To check that, the easiest way is to see the color on the back. In Belgium (Forest build), the back side is black.
But not seeing the back side here, I just see that this dashboard doesn't correspond to a '65-'66 2CV made in Belgium (missing a green light and speed drawing is not there on Belgium production).

Cheers

Vincent.

Having found another old photo of Dorcas, here's the correct speedo, in MPH and swinging from top right, clockwise, to top left, with the odometer on top.
I'm guessing this might be one of those 'unobtainium' parts. Also shows the green light to the right hand side.

As for progress updates, you may have a long wait. I've got to finish my Morgan trike first and anyway, I'll be getting parts together for a good while yet.

They were everywhere at the French National.

Hetty's original (12v) on the left and 'upside down' (6v) on the right:
