Post A dyane of love
Hi All,

Now here are pictures of my second car..a 1973 Dyane which was bought by my father in 1977 from New Delhi and driven to Bangalore...a distance of more than 2000 km. The roads in India at the time were very challenging..and the car passed through the Chambal Valley an arid scrub-land, notoriously famous for its dacoits, including the famous Phoolan Devi.

My father was a lover of cars, and he has had many a different model. But somehow he was passionately fond of this car, and used it as a regular commute between Bangalore and and the plantation, a distance of about 300 km, of which about 50 km is hardcore 4x4 terrain, especially in the monsoons. During the vacations, the car would do the circuit fully loaded with 1 1/2 months of luggage for mother and 4 children, books, toys, provisions, et al.

In Bangalore, we would sometimes take the hood off and go for picnics with Dad.

What you see in the pictures is the second generation enjoying the car just the way we did as kids!

Steve

Steve, what a stunning dyane! I'm sure Marky D, recently of this parish, will be beating down your door for more info - he's dyane registrar for 2cvgb.

Ha! That's how we all got into 2cv Steven, we are the second generation in the UK, our parents all did 2cving while we grew up hanging out the roof standing on the back seat, you know you're going to have to buy them a 2cv of their own some day?

A nice looking car and what a history to go with it.

For all its traversing rough tracks its in fab shape.

Too true! I do already have one Dyane on the Register from that part of the world if memory serves me right.

Edit: indeed I do have one on the Register, and it's yours, Steve! It was painted cream at the time, though (that was back in '99...). Does Luke still have his orange one?

Hi!

When I joined this forum, I never knew about the origin and the connections with 2CV GB...but yes, I was registered with 2CV GB! My brother Luke who had an orange Dyane registered me on the club while he was doing his MBA in UK....and yes, he does have it still! Between us, we probably have the most noticeable collection of these cars in South India, along with a doctor who has three cars.

I have, both on my Dyane and the Van, 2CVGB stickers, one is noticeable on the van pic I had sent earlier.

Cheers!

Steve
