Joolz,
if you're still on standard springs, 'uprated' dampers will have to cope with considerably higher loads, so I hope you'll be checking the security of your damper studs... :?:

Thanks guys, but I sure anyone could weld like that with the practice I've had. After all, everybody has to be good at something.

Ken, my springs aren't completely standard, and unfortunately I don't have damper studs, only bolts, but they've not given any trouble yet.

You'd either laugh or cry at my tig welding, I have no natural talent at it and unless I've had a drink my hands are too shakey. I'm getting there though, it's certainly not at your standard! What'd you charge to drill and tig a set of damper bodies?

Ha ha, I knew someone would ask, but I'm not exactly conveniently located and I'm sure you're capable of doing your own. I did a pair for the front over a year ago and welded them with a hobby mig, they worked fine. Once they've had a coat of brush on paint and are bolted to the underside of your car, no-one can see if the welding's pretty anyway.

What, amongst all the other oil stains?! :P

Seriously, If you're saying your welding isn't good enough to seal them, I'm saying I don't believe you.

We'll know soon, because i spent all day friday practicing my tigging on a load of scrap stainless. which mysteriously became exactly the right shape and size for an oil catch tank...
