Will it ever live again? I hope so. From the middle of the front floors backwards everything is really soild, its just erm, everything to the front of that which is a problem. I've had it since 1997, I used it as a spares car. But its becoming a viable restoration.

Quality! did you have it on the road before it became a spares car?

It's sickening to think of all the 2cvs 15-20 years ago that got scrapped due to worn kingpins, brakes that need relining or other easy to rectify ailments & their bodywork was actually really solid. These days, a sound bodyshell is the number 1 priority, i reckon.

I bought it for £50 in 1997. It had only done 40k miles, but had spent most of its life parked with its nose sticking out of a shed. It was in just the right position for rain to gush off the shed roof, through all the leaky bits, and into the floor.

The chassis was collapsing then - but I still drove it home. I began canibalising it to repair a couple of others that I had.

I do have nearly all the parts needed to rebuild it, except the chassis. But at the moment its having the time that's the issue.
