What a beautiful '250 How do you find sleeping in it? I'm guesing you have to move the seats forward?

cheers the seats have been modified by the owner before last to fold flat and form the rest of the bed. It is a little tight with 2 but still fine, we slept in it for 2 weeks on route to and from czech w.m on hols last year.

That's so cool it looks really cosy! Any chance you could get some pics of the seat modifications?
Must be so much nicer than having to faff with a tent when you're on your way somewhere.

I love that van. Built by Richard Cooper (Coops), sold to Wiltz then on to you Ben. I saw it outside Colditz Castle last summer, in the company of BOTH previous owners. Kinda surreal.

The big problem with kipping in a van is where do you put everything else when you're asleep? In a longer van, you've got a bit more length - so can squeeze a bag or two in front of the seats. Even then, though, you're shoving a lot of stuff either outside, in a gazebo or under the van or in a... tent. If you're going to be somewhere for more than a night or two, and want to get offsite to the supermarket or sightseeing or whatever - it's a real problem. Do you pack everything back in the van and risk losing your space? Do you just leave it loose (fine at a 2cv meet, but not so good in a "normal" site)? Or do you put it in a... tent? I can't imagine how Coops managed to sleep in a 250 - he's a chunk taller than me (and I'm 6'2"/1m88), and I didn't have a lot of spare length - even in the Acad. The bed base looks about the same height as the one we had in the 350 then Acad - which brings us to the other problem with low vans... When you sit up in bed in the morning... <BANGouchsoddit> As for seats - our 350 has old-style peg-in-hole seats (as does the 400) - just pull the retaining pin, and tip 'em forward, then lay the futon out over the back of the seats. The Acad had BX GTi front seats. Seat all the way forward, front of the base adjusted fully up, then back reclined fully, and lay the futon over. Head - always - at the door end.
