There should be brackets off the back of the front of the "Paper Clips", attaching them to the front of the bumper via one of those two bolts. The "Paper Clips" will vibrate and possible damage the bumper without them(certainly damage the paint).

Edit:- Looks like you've got the rubbers upside down, on top of the bumper

That's a possibility, if there's a 50/50 choice you can count on me to make the wrong one!
I've been thinking about those paperclip bumper mountings, and I've decided to put one of those small circular rubbers (that you use to mount the dash panel) under the foot of each one. The rubbers already have a hole in them and they look about the right size. Hopefully they can then act as a sort of shock absorber for any vibration that might occur as these repro paperclips don't have that steadying bar that the originals had.

The biggest leap forward will come when the rest of the paint goes on, stuff like the doors, bonnet and front wings are still waiting for paint, and as the weather just now is looking favourable the respraying will be done any time now. As bertie said it'll be so shiny that the first scratches it gets in use will be a shame, but it has been built with the intention of becoming my daily driver whatever the weather, so - C'est la Vie!

Flush with the feeling of spring, I set about doing a little body prep on the bonnet today. I pushed the car out of the garage and into the warm spring sunshine, then got to work cleaning up the grotty bits of the bonnet.... and then it rained!

Looking good You got those a lot quicker than i thought it would take

Where a metal fixing goes through a metal panel, as with this number plate fixing on the bonnet, there is invariably rust.
Now I've never seen the underside of an old French 2cv bonnet that has the central alloy trim attached to it but I wonder if they used to rust too? That thought's been nagging at me since I decided to fit the trim, as my trim attachments are metal, and they are going to pass through holes in my newly painted metal bonnet, while simultaneously coping with engine vibration, and forming a water trap, all that doesn't bode well to me.



So today I've come up with a fix, I'm going to fit these small rubber grommets to the holes that I drilled after the panel has been painted. The trim clips will push through them (as shown) and if it works perhaps I can look forward to rattle and rust free journeys? http://olsnails2cv.blogspot.com/
