Ive found that a seriese handle better with a slight drop from factory height - where the the rear wing is just below wheel centre. biggest improvement by far is to get some good shocks on it - good as in brand new old stock not just good as in not leaking. I had 120% up rated springs on the blue car and it was great the suspension still worked without scraping the expensive bits but it cornered really flat and fast.

Channeled and lowered roof chopped are just for the odd run out so people can "tisk" at you and you gain "Kudos" from similar minded folk for upsetting the old farts. ( but Amis do look rather good low)

You gain more points from then pointing out that you use your un feasibly low car as a daily driver on forums like this when anyone questions the style.

if you go low stock up on shocks and mounting pins etc

do something really original like a 3 wheeler - single driven front wheel like a FWD Reliant Robin

 ;)

The thing is, you can always make up a pair of turned front arms, fit them and slam the thing to the floor. If you don't like it there, take your turned arms off, sell them to one of the racers, and put it back to standard again. It's all of an afternoon's work. Mind you, ideally you'd also fit stiffer springs, which would be a bit more involved.

Or the cheaper way, just get it running as is and try it first as it was designed before changing it.

Does that mean you are going to the Slough Swapmeet on the 4th Nov?

The most fun I had there was turning up in the 'Burg and showing the VW boys what a proper German car should sound like. :-D

I might go in the Ami this year if I'm at a loose end.

True enough. But my point was that, even if it does get lowered, it's nothing that's not completely and easily reversible.

It would be rude not to do hit swappie since Its pretty much walking distance

I would hazard a guess that a fair few people would appreciate a Burg.
Raspy 2 stroke goodness :D
Im Taking Fred in a bid towards tempting some mates towards the darkside ;)
Bring the Ami and we could start pressganging them.
You could also Pop round for a Cuppa, come poke some rust and Hiss though your teeth at the decay that stands before you like also:lol:

Here is the odd thing... I was determined to lower Fred the moment i got him home.
This is a couple of months gone now.... still at stock height.
I have plusgassed the adjusters twice now and gone out with the express intention of doing it, and ended up tinkering on something else entirely.
So I think I may be returning to form rolling at stock height and this is all academic anyway.

I think Fred has sagged slightly to that point anyway, Ami will be for dry days and pleasant weather, which is odd cos I also own a 2cv as a daily, you know the things with the roll up soft top

Anyway did I mention i have reglued the doorcards Had a word with my Boss and secured myself a shelf in the workshop at work purely for Ami Parts.
Slowly but surely I will be doing the small take off and refurb stuff in the workshop in my lunchhours.
and sticking it up in the racking ready for the refit, that way I can keep it all clean and safe ready for when I stick it all back together again.
Then when the time comes I can bring a few parts home every day and fit them again.
