For what it costs it's not worth arsing about with rusty and dirty fixings. I bought new j clips for the chassis too, they usually break or rot when you undo them.

yer true and you spend more time swearing at them as well, doesnt do the blood pressure any good!

and also not to mention that you know next time you needa' whip the body off itll be easy to undo bolts,
are you greasing the bolts when you put them in?

It probably wouldn't hurt, whether I'll remember to do is another matter. I don't intend to stick anoher chassis on this car, and if I break it up for spares at a later date it probably won't matter!

i always grease every bolt that i take out, knowing that the next time i remove it itll be a breaze

obviously there are a few exceptions to some bolts i dont grease,

I've made a massive mistake with the wheels. I decided to buck the trend and as much as I like black wheels on 2cvs, a red spesh with black rims isn't exactly unique here, so I chose the purest brightest white we had in stock.

They look great, but I give it approximately 3 miles before they look filthy and I've given up cleaning them...

russell think of it like this, your wheels wont need cleaning as much....

my white wheels are alway dirty
and when i had white motor bike wheels, the brakes where obviously on the wheels, and so all dust couldnt go anywhere but on the wheels, white wheels = nightmare!

i think black wheels is good (if you hate dirty wheel syndrome and hate cleaning!)
