 Re: Belinda: on the road
Yeh I know Max, I should but the truth is I haven't said much anywhere lately. I have been fairly involved at work which is when I tend to post most but rest assured, I do visit the site all the time. Last year was the 1st time Belinda was out on the road in quite a few years and the whole idea was to get her roadworthy and out on the road initially to gauge opinion and also to assess her suitability for use as a camper. The National meeting made me realise that I'd done the right thing and the Halloween camp was just the right environment to both make me realise she was a viable vehicle for camping in and also to reveal her shortcomings, which is why I've been sorting the windows. Hopefully you'll be seeing and hearing a lot more of us this year

 Re: Belinda: on the road
Just a quick update. I got the rest of the windows in this week and did a bit of rubbing down/painting. Whilst I was putting in the last window, I thought I'd take a pic of the adhesive strip being put in:

 Re: Belinda: on the road
With Belinda's windows back in and (hopefully) waterproofed it was time for her winter sleep to come to an end today so that she can make way for a friend's VW bus.
I hadn't started her at all whilst she'd been in hibernation but with some fresh petrol in the tank, she started pretty much straight away so I'm looking at taking her out for a spin Friday to blow away the cobwebs and then get her ready for Firkin.

 Re: Belinda: on the road
I taxed Belinda and took her out for a short run today. For once I was happy it was raining because I could see if my attempts at refurbishing the window frames and keeping the water out have been successful. They have. There is still a tiny bit of water getting in through the drivers side door and I have an issue with the back door, but that is more to do with the design of the door rather than actual leakage. I'll have a chat with some of you at the Firkin meeting to gauge opinion on possible solutions. As I'll be using her to sleep in again at the Firkin next weekend, I thought I'd look at fitting some curtains in order to protect my modesty. At the Halloween meeting I had simply taped some black bin bags over the windows which did the job admirably but recently at work, I spotted something more suitable. I currently work in a cold war style bunker that has long-disused bunk racks buried in its depths and each of these bunks has a nice thick curtain around it on a rail which is just about the right drop for Belinda's windows. Given that Belinda's cabin is around the same length as a bunk, you can see where I'm going here, can't you

LOL, nice one dude!! I was thinking about you actually when I mentioned the curtains and protecting my modesty - are you going to Firkin?
