Wooohooo, Sold the little Simca 6 today. New home in Paris (long way from us)

So now I can start on the Traction at last.

I didn't mention that I contacted the Conservatoire in Paris for the documentation of the Traction. In the end I did not need it for the Carte Grise but just for my interest I have the Certificates of Production and a bunch of other stuff, nice photo history of the car, CD full of photos, cert of identity, conformation etc.

It came off the production line on the 12th April 1955. I also have my own certificate d'Heritage



Also they send out an original Car Handbook which was kinda nice to have.

Looks a nice bit of paperwork. How much did Citroen roger you for it though? I had a 1961 Morris Minor Convertible back in the 90's and sent off to the BMIHT (Rover Heritage trust) for a similar certificate. Cost about £25 IIRC.

I was in a bit of a panic as the Traction was too old to be on the French Computer system, so I bought the whole Coffret Legende from Citroen which was €100. This gave me the all important Certifcate of Identity and Certifcate of Conformity. (I paid £180 for a CofC for my Ifor Williams trailer, so thought it was not so bad)

But in the end the nice lady at the prefecture found the documents in Toulouse and had them sent through to her so I didn't need them - but I have them now so it is a good record for the car.

I have started.

Took the radiator out and that is going off to a company that restores them - quoted €150 for test, clean, paint and polish so hope that is all as that is not too bad a price.

Started uncoupling the engine ready for removal - slowly slowly on this project.




The parts are starting to build up.

Sounds like a stiff price to me, I got my radiator recored with an extra row for about the same, but that was some years ago and for something British.

Good luck with this fabulous project which I shall be following with great interest.

To recore it the price would be €450. A new one is around €500.

If you think that is expensive each tire costs €200 - I was looking into modifying my wheels to take 16" or 15" tires but no one seems to be able to do it. So the only option is Michelin 165/400s - bloody racket

This part is definitely the dirty part. Not sure if the previous owners really did drive across muddy fields but every part is covered in hardened dirt.

The electrical system is brilliantly simple and I will be re-wiring the car totally but using the same principle. I will be modifying the car to 12 Volts throughout with a step down converter to 6 Volts to power the fuel gauge.


The wings come off nearly as easily as the 2CV but these are a little bigger. I have some rot on the end of the wing where the Robri was sitting. Body looks tatty but seems to be rot free.



Getting on with cleaning all the mud and grime off to see what I need to do or at least work out what all the parts do

Wheels have had the tires taken off (loving my local Norauto store who do this as a favour) and the rims have been sent to be sandblasted this morning and should have them back this afternoon. Will send them to be painted soon after and then order the notoriously expensive tires
