 Re: Willamis old car
It starts great now, I've put the original dash back in it and crucially removed the tacho. I reckon it was just sapping the power from the coil. It jumped fine, but wouldn't start on its own battery unless it was warm. As soon as the tacho trigger wire was removed the problem went away. Hopefully I will find time this week to weld the small hole in the bulkhead and then I don't know what to do with it. I don't have the time or money to modify it the way I'd like, or had planned to. Driving a stock height a series is fun, especially an old one with its mega body roll and supple suspension, I swear you could drive it over a kerb at 60mph and not feel a thing. I also adjusted the bonnet catch which has put a stop to the nerve wracking game of watching it pop open before braking as hard as possible and diving into the verge and hoping there wasn't a car following you. Driving it has become a much less stressful pursuit now. I've got a little idea in my head that it might be fun to try and sell it as the French national and buy something else to drive home in. The last A series I've always wanted and never had is a pre 70 2cv, preferably from that ideal few years they had a 5 rib bonnet, flat light panel, 4 light shell and suicide doors. I don't know if the ami is worth enough money to sell and buy one of those with, but as I keep feeling I'm not really moving forward with the ami, and it's barely even covering old ground for me, I think that's what I might aim for.

Here Russell, your dream car. New chassis etc. It is very cheap. http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/294423336.htm?ca=6_s

 Re: Willamis old car
That's exactly the thing I'd be after Viking. How close to you is it? I've just been to look at a similar car this evening, hoping to close a deal when I go back at the weekend. The only downside is that the car I'm looking at hasn't got suicide doors, although I could live with that.

 Re: Willamis old car
It's tempting, Viking, thanks, but I can't buy anything until the Ami goes. It's bang on what i want though!

 Re: Willamis old car
Now sold. I thought I'd have it longer than that, but the right deal came up and it's found a good home.
