Holy jebus mother of god and all that stufff............

HOW CLEAN and shiny is your van. Top work indeed, you will be scared to drive it (or you will cry when it rains/gets scratched etc first time)

seriously though, credit to you, i wish i had the patience to bother to make my vehicles look that good.

Reg day winner coming up me-thinks.

Bit slow on the progress this week...

Both front indicators are now in situ & both work! bonus. The rear lights are crap on Acad's - they have plastic bases & a real flimsy earth tag. Predictably one broke, so instead of fannying around i thought i'd look out for some Peugeot 504 pick-up items as the are identical but have metal bases & are generally much better... Peugeot dealers laughed in my face when i asked & classic Pug specialists seem to be thin on the ground. I did track a pair down recently, but at a cool £50 each plus postage on top, (bases only) i decided against it.

I ordered a NOS pair of proper Acad lamps still sealed in their original box, so it came as a bit of a surprise that when i unscrewed the lense on one i noticed that it was missing it's earth 'tag'.

Once i've got the light situation sorted it will be time to drive it to my mates bodyshop, although it's only 1 mile away it will be the longest journey it's undertaken since i bought it!

rust  :

i think i'm sorted now joolz, cheers.

Been grafting on the van again today. Started at 10am & have worked pretty much all day on it - just don't seem to have made a great deal of progress...

a rear fog lamp is needed, so i set to. I've routed the wire through the bulkhead, up the windscreen pillar & through the white plastic conduit above the door on the drivers side. I can't see me managing to route it down the siderail, so i think i'm going to opt for some biggish, self-adhesive conduit to hide the wire & it should come in handy for when i get around to plumbing in one of those fancy tape playing devices & some of those BOOM BOOM speakers.

Also wired in a twin 12v Socket for my curling tongs & slow cooker.

Today was also the first day the heap has moved under it's own steam for what must be at least 9 months. As it actually looks like a van again and not some cutaway college project i thought i'd chance driving it back to chez Ashton, where i could work on it in relative comfort (kettle & toilet on hand) & work from light supplied from the sun & not 3 AAA batteries. It took the 3/4's mile journey in it's stride - very encouraging  managed to hit 60 on one of the longer uphill strectches - 60 kmh, of course.

First impressions are; first gear is A LOT quieter since changing the oil. The ARB makes a big difference too.

They've gone unavailable in the last handful of years, then - I had a new pair for MattS's Acad maybe 4yrs ago. They weren't stock at the Pug dealer, but they were through in a day or two, so quite probably UK stock.

Try another Pug dealer, one that'll be bothered to actually do some work for you.

I'm sure John Stenhouse (it may have been someone else though) told me at the UK National that he'd found an after-market supplier that sold trailer lights almost identical in appearance to Acad rear lights.

Is it MOT'd now then?
