 Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
I got a wire wheel on the crusty bits, but there was enough metal left for the glass to go back in. I primed the section, then used some spray on waxoil around the bottom bit again. I've left it to dry and will refit the window tomorrow hopefully... My dad had abit of a shock when he took it to Tesco this morning

 Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
haha thats brilliant
well when you put it back in smother loads of grease round it, may i point out i used grease that doesnt react with the rubber etc etc and as i say, dont be shy, make sure it oozes when you put it back in, and i found if you lube up the seal with wd-40 it goes in easier, and i didnt use string just a screw driver that was all that was availbe at the time lol

 Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
right boys and girls, disaster, so i started to hammerite my toeboard and floors, as the red led i had was dry and the toe board dried fine, and even after 4 weeks, the back bit of the floors id painted was still sticky. (as id removed the front due to the inconviences of driving with a sticky floor! and so back to square one i decided to go and buy some red oxide, rather than try and use some thats years old, and so far its worked out well, dried quickly and all worked out fine. im half way through painting the floors, i will post pics when finished, i didnt take any before, but im sure you can geusws what a 2cv floor looks like!!

 Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
rightyo, had a very succesful day, i was talking about in another thread about rust in the rear light panel, well, i decided to attack that today. i geuss it wasnt in the light panel as such, it was below the line where the boot lid sits, so lowish. i bought a dremel thing in halfords for £15 quid, and it was perfect for the job. one of the attachments had a little sanding disck, about p80 i wouldl of thought, perfect, took the paint right away, and also the rust. i got it down to bare metal, and then primed. i primed it with red oxide primer, (spray this time not liquid) so did the usual newspaper etc, as you can see in the pic... i obviously had to remove the bumper, to gain suitable acces to what i wanted to do, so i took the bumper bracket holder thingy majigy things off, and decided to attack them, as some surface rust was forming. again, ground out all rust, back to bare metal, and red oxide paint again. while all this paint was drying in various locations, i decided to take the fan gaurd off, to paint that. again, removed all rust, and primed with red oxide spray. i didnt take a pic, but oh well, i then decided to do it in gloss white, as i think itll look quite good on the front of the engine, but who knows, we will see!! the rest of the time ive been painting the floors, ive done about 3 coats of red oxide on the floors, and still doing the rest of the inside of the car. as you can see in the pics, ive pushed the boat out and gone a bit wild with the painting, and done everything, well will be soon. after emptying alll my shit out of the boot, i inspected the POR 15 i did ealier in the year. it is still good and fine, but i will probably paint over it with red oxide, just cos its easier than putting masking tape to make it blend and not be a shit job, if that makes sense, my intention is to remove both back wings, remove all the waxoil and years of shit of the roads, and to red oxide the inner wing bits, and then wax oil heavily, so hopefully the rear seatbelt mounts shouldnt be a problem in the near future. anyway as you can see from the pics its looks not to bad and here is the final result with the back of the car, with the bumper put back on etc etc
