Car will get this colours.. First without the logo and text, then I'll put the logo on. Don't know if I'll make a sticker for it, or just a template so I can use the same colours.
With a sticker you always have a difference in colour.
The Chiquita-logo is a nice idea!

Going to the hardware store this evening to collect some colour samples :)

Started on the works today. First the interior. Out with the old carpet, in with the new, after rustproofing the floor with tectyl.
Floor is rustfree, but there is already been welded on the front part of the floors, but all looking good.

Cut me a new piece of flooring.
Put it in the car, and mounted the new seats. Sliders from the seat are bit bend, so moven the seats is almost not possible, but I mounted the drivers seat in the right possision.

Also fitted new front speakers, 40 watt RMS, and now I have a much better, and a bit harder sound:

In the meantime the postman arrived at the door with my new (2cv) seatbelts. The old ones, adjustable by hand, are now replaced with ones that roll up themselves.

Tomorrow will be sanding, sanding and more sanding the prepare the bodypanels for the new colours.
Panels will be rust free, but not dent free. Small dents will be left untouched, bigger dents will be removed as far as it gets :)

Great work, Tom! I bet the seats are a lot more comfortable! Nice to see that the floor is so rust-free - its usually when you begin work like that that what you thought was reasonably sound metal suddenly begins to take on the appearance of a Tea bag (ask me how i know) So it's always a bonus when its as good as it originally looked!

Are you still aiming for the yellow & blue of the 6 service van?

Yellow and blue it will be!
First the colours, than the logo on the frontdoors. Need to make a template for that. Want to paint it on instead of using a sticker.

Text on the rear panel and door might not be done. Don't like how that looks.

Discoverd today that I have 3 left front doors, but non of them are worth to put in the car.
The one that's now on the car needs to be replaced, because the windowframe is broken, and the part near the hinge is rusted badly.
The other 2: one has a rusthole in the left lower corner and the other one has a non existing windowguiderail.
Impossible to make 1 good door out of three bad ones because the door that is in the car, and the one with the hole in it have a fixed windowframe, and the other has a windowframe that can be removed.

The whole leftside of the car will be replaced with other panels. Both fenders and back door are already sanded and primered. The door and frontfender are also painted yellow. Blue will be done hopefully tomorrow.

So, need to look for a new/better left door :)

Continued painting this morning.
First took the right frontfender off the car, because that's the best one I got. There is now a white, dented one on untill the good one is painted.
sanded it, and primed it.
Also the parts i dod yesterday are sanded and painted againd. The left rear fender has its first coat of yellow.

When the primer was drying, i started to put the rev-counter in the ami. Found a nice place for it, wired it up. Didn't work the first time and after changing the wires it worked.
Some pics, housing will be painted black someday.

That was at the Belgium Plattinnekes Meeting in Zondereigen, last saturday ;

Today's update:
Started chaning the bonnet, 'cause the one on the car is the best one I've got. Was a bugger to get the bonnet from the car, because one bolt wasn't planning to being separated from the (square) nut. So took the fender together with the bonnet off, so I could undo the bolt with help from a water pump pliers.
Refitted the fender and put the other bonnet on. Car looks worse than it did already ;)

Sanded the bonnet, and the panels I painted yesterday.
Put on all the panels the first coat of blue paint, and it looks realy nice, if I'm honest ;)
Image

The Ami Service I took the paint-scheme off had a complete yellow bonnet, with the Chevrons on. I don't want the Chevrons on my car, so decided to paint the bonnet yellow and blue.
After sanding the first coat of yellow was put on.

The housing from the rev-counter is also painted with primer, looks less like a piece of plumbing now ;)

After dinner I went back to the garage to do a second layer of blue, and a first one on the bonnet.

Bonnet's looking really really great ;)
