Just returned from the local post office with a new tax disc for the 2CV, thought I'd get it before tomorrow's Budget when no doubt the price will go through the roof along with everything else.

Post Re: My 2cv
Been out in the 2CV this afternoon Ended up going down through the Cotswolds around Stow-on-the-Wold and Winchcombe, climbing the notorious Fish Hill by broadway on the drive down. The C4 flew up it last night, but the 2CV is much more sedate Quite a few oldies pootling along, but nowhere near as many as I'd expected to see. Over the past 2000miles the 2CV has averaged 43mpg, but I've noticed that the difference in price between petrol and diesel has started to shrink, in some petrol stations it's as close as 3 to 4 pence!!

Been out round a county I very rarely explore this afternoon, Warwickshire. Ended up going to the Civil War Battle site of Edge Hill and whilst I was parked up an Austin-Healey came past behind a LR Discovery which had a cameraman in the boot with the glass part open to film the Healey. At the wheel was the actor Paul McGann :o They came back and forth a few times, parked behind me for a while then shot off. Ten minutes later I headed off in the direction of Gaydon (where the Motor Heritage Museum is) and got stuck behind the Healey for about 2 or 3 miles. May see my 2CV on some TV drama around Autumn............ Though more likely not

As a footnote to above, the driver of the Disco was a right crazy idiot, he kept moving over to the wrong side of the road to get different shots but the road was very twisty with some proper sharp bends and blind spots galore!!

Paul McGann is on The One Show at the moment and he's talking about presenting a program on Sky TV about old cars called 'Petrol Age' on Thursday night.

Fame at last....For about 10secs  Clearly they didn't want a 2CV to overshadow an Austin-Healey.

Post Re: My 2cv
Had a fair bit of restoration work done to the 2CV in early 2008, when I had the full windscreen surround replaced, along with the 'fixed' welded in A-panels, A-posts, drip-channels, C-posts, rear side panels, boot floor, rear lamp panel and four new wings. At the time the sills were fine so didn't have any work done to them but over the last 18-months the driver's side has become increasingly rusty at the front around the A-post, so I dropped the car round to Peter Cross at Tibberton on Monday to have the sill repaired. I've just returned from collecting the car and the repair is perfect, I'm well happy. :-)

2CV is parked on the road with a full tank ready for the trip down to Dover in the morning. Will be leaving home around half three in the the morning to get to Dover for 8am for the 8:25am crossing to Calais. I'm off to bed now, bon soir.

Post Re: My 2cv
I mislaid the fuel cap whilst out in France so had to buy one of those emergency plastic push on ones from a petrol station. I was amazed at how much better the car ran :o Having spoken to a number of people, it seems the vent on the original cap was very likely blocked so causing a vacuum which ended up affecting the way the car ran. Came clean off the clock on the M40, but I won't admit to the speed showing on Mavis. ;)

Been up to ECAS today to buy a new locking fuel cap, from there I headed west and had a drive around Shropshire. I'm now badly sun-burnt :( so will probably suffer tomorrow
