Re: Citroen Dyane 6 New to forum & Citroen :-)
Anyone would think that people on here are quite happy for cars that can be easily restored to rot... It seems like any advice given is the only real rot!
Anyone have any useful comments or advice relating to the restoration of this Dyane? that of course would be welcomed but other than that the silly comments are getting a little boring!
Dyane's might not be to everyone's taste while 2cv's are not to mine. However if for some reason i need to comment on someones 2cv it would be constructive and useful not that of someone being pointlessly critical and bitchy!

Is that the underside of the dash shelf visible to the left - the sheet of very rotten tin waving about? Given the bottom of the bulkhead rain trough, I suspect it is. Any chance of a photo looking up at it?

Hey,
Yes that part of the shelf is pretty much gone causing that side of the bulkhead to go along the line of the shelf.
The rest of the shelf to the left is solid along with the bulk head which is good news. Next time im up the unit i shall take a pic looking up from the inside its actually not that disastrous.
Thanks

The shelf rotting away is MOT fail time, since it supports the handbrake, gear lever and steering column. (And just remember, all the Dyane haters would still rather drive a Dyane than a Mini or a Capri or something. Except Russ, and he's just wierd.)

The offside shelf has gone, the little cubby bit beside the dash is no longer existent however the rest of the parcel shelf is somehow solid! The brace that goes under the parcel shelf from nearside to offside between A-panels is also solid, we just need to get abit of parcel shelf fabricated for the offside! after spending a few hours on it yesterday and having it up in the air, I'm still amazed at how truly solid the underneath Of this Dyane is considering the length of time it had been stood exposed! The chassis isn't rotten at all! Somehow! Maybe not seeing salty roads for the past 18 years has helped! The floors only need a plate where they meet the toeboard apart from the scuttle, bulkhead and offside A-panel there isn't much rot!
