 Re: Yet another red spesh...
Think it's somet to do with their history. A bmw car's nickname is bimmer, not beemer, as everyone says.

School day, cool I like how they scold people's spelling, then miss out a 't' in the same sentence

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
To be honest, I couldn't give a shit what people want to call it.
602 back in now and I'll get started on modifying a rack to move the gearbox mount upwards and backwards in much the same place Joolz has his. Then I'll fit the new rack, gearbox and BMW engine to see how much I need to take off of the front crossmember. (thanks for the link Sean). After that it's time to buy and modify an exhaust.

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
How far back do you reckon you'll have to move it? getting the lefthand cylinder head inside the wing is the bit that needs attention. If you're happy to modify the front cross member then that might be a good idea to help with fittng the exhaust. Share Sean's link if it was interesting/useful.

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
To fit the engine behind the crossmember I need to find 80mm from somewhere. I reckon I can get at least 50 if not more from moving the gearbox mount and relieving the bulkhead (same as you did) and the rest I will try and get by taking a chunk from the crossmember. I only intend to modify the middle of it and reinforce the rest, which won't help with the exhaust much. Your alternator cover must be pretty close to the bonnet? I notice your sump doesn't hang as low as I think mine will, I tried the bonnet as it was and it was resting on the alt cover and still open a good two inches.
How are you getting on with the wheels?

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
does the alternator cover need to be as big as it is currently? Does the alternator need to be right on top at all?
