 Re: Yet another red spesh... Not necessarily so...  Did you have a look under the bonnet of Car 63 at Spa, the one which finished 3rd? Instead of a GS box mated to the BMW engine, which had caused problems in previous years, they ran with a ( not quite) standard 2CV gearbox. A (secret) modification which I've developed allowed the gearbox to be overfilled, which Rick tells me helped it survive the punishment of almost 8,000 rpm for however long the car was on the track. Note that it won't help with shock loading, so wheelspins from the lights wouldn't be the best of ideas without a spare gearbox in the boot.  ken Russell wrote: Lenny wrote: Oh dear. Re: Yet another red spesh... I've got a few disc boxes in the garage at my parents house, I'm fully expecting to wreck a few, and I'm not too fussed about it, so if they do last, then happy days, if not, I won't be too upset.
I'm hoping to get the car off the road at Christmas and make the front engine mounhts, and possibly modift the rear mount to move the engine back if needs be. I don't know what I'm doing to quite honest, and I should thank Joolz for giving me a fair bit of advice before I've even started...

What is it which goes in the box's? (I'm sure aware of my lack of ability and knowlege about boxes) can't it be beefed up?

Re: Yet another red spesh... I serviced it today and started making the front cage.  LOL.    Lowered it again.   Put the basics of the front cage in.  Still haven't done anything about fitting the BMW engine.

I had Mayo build up but not that bad.
Cold weather? Timing is spot on etc.
