Unless you have the spare boys with the flywheel youll need 6 M6X12mm for the cover, the centralising tool is often included with the clutch kit. Flywheel boys are available at ECAS just buy new ones - dont fanny about with a week of posts wondering if your old ones are stretched. Its worth doing the pilot bearing in the crank as well as a new dust seal for it. Flywheel boys are available in 12.9s on tinternet as they are used on BMW diff ring gear and are prone to stripping on the boy racer editions, so the tougher ones are available - trouble is you pay BMW boy racer prices.
Its a couple of hours for me if I just do the clutch and dont go off doing everything else that looks more intresting.
if you follow your Hayes manuel you shouldnt go far wrong

remember to make sure the clutch cable is seated on both the pedal and the clutch lever and a smear of grease on the clean splines of the input shaft as well as some oil in the pilot bearing

a long spline box will work quite happily with a heavy flywheel and its clutch

I probably won't change the bearing. As much as its probably a good idea, I can't find it on Ecas, and also it adds more room for cock up. I think I'll stick with what I know I can achieve

I'll take loads of pics and do a right up about it

If you buy an Ecas clutch kit, it'll come with a new release bearing. At least, the three spring clutch does. If you fit a three spring clutch, you'll have to change the bearing since the two types are incompatible. It's an easy job, and you might as well do it while the engine's out.

what bearing?
you HAVE to change the release bearings as they wont work with the wrong clutch

as for the Pilot bearing they support the input shaft of the gearbox - if its worn it accelerate the wear on the return scroll and as they arent available any more its worth spending the £1.30 for the little bit of calcar and a few quid on a matching seal ( 12/18/4- honda engines have them as output seals im sure youll have some in stores)

I meant pilot bearing not thrust. My thrust bearing is noisy anyway

The council round here finally realised we dont all drive 4X4's and that roads shouldnt be like off road terrain tracks, so they've decided to splash out in this moment of no money we are in, and re surface some of the roads..
They start by laying a layer of tarmac on and then stones, i dont know why they do this but they do...
now you may ask what this has to do with a red and white 1988 D*lly, but here is where this is going...

so with all these loose chippings on the road, comes stones flying in the wheel arches etc....

So I thought i better check (its been about 2 weeks since the car got a good stone blasting) and make sure the waxoyl and paint hadn't been chipped away.. trying to be proactive you see..

so i gave it a good inspection and came across not stone chippings but this...

And finally the rust that dropped on the floor in such a small area

I phoned Gary Dicks who is going to be playing with the car in a few weeks time, to ask if he could sort this too... He sats he normally fabricates a bit to weld in and fix up there...

I hear only good things about Gary, so hopefully he will perform good surgery on the car :D

but what a pain in the testicular area...

Im not sure what to make of it, it seems to be
Bottom c pillar, rear lower inner wing in corner
edge of sill
back seat box
all where they meet, seems to have turned to rust...

Bit depressing really...

whats more, about half an hour before finding this out, i came across this on the C90...

Had a very loud rattle at high revs, wasnt sure what it was, thought it might be exhaust heat shield, noticed one of the manifold studs was non existent, and so whipped the exhaust off to find that!!!!

What a crap day :(
