 Re: My 2cv
Okay, battery and alternator are working fine, no problems there, but I have a grating noise when clutch is down and some difficulty with gear selection. I'm guessing it's the release bearing though I may try to adjust the pedal in the hope of getting a few more thousand miles from it. It's only done about 135 thousand, or so I believe.

 Re: My 2cv
Haven't used the 2CV much over the last week The issue with the knackered clutch has held me back from using it, plus working a fair few 12hr shifts have got in the way. Well yesterday afternoon I decided to throw caution to the wind and get it out of the garage and use it to go to the Wye Knot 2CV pub meeting For the most part the clutch worked perfectly, so I had a very enjoyable pootle around the Herefordshire countryside. Hope to get a new Valeo clutch fitted in the next two weeks.

 Re: My 2cv
I see it, and I know it's a clutch.....But I've no idea what the photos mean. Sorry Jon. I'm sure I'll have a full and frank explanation when you bring the car round later. Don't be too hard on me...Please.

Free play at the clutch pedal, what's that? That was very close to 'Look, no clutch'... ken

 Re: My 2cv
What a lovely experience to have a clutch and no clutch judder it feels sooooooo much better. Next job (of many), new brake pads. Cheers for all your hard work mate.

 Re: My 2cv
I've spent over £300 this month on a new clutch, new foot-brake pads, hand-brake pads, brake pipe bridging the calibers and a Toyo tyre. Had to go for a Toyo as I'd spent too much on other stuff and couldn't afford a new Michelin as soon as I can afford a Michelin the Toyo will end up in the boot On the plus side...The car now has an amazingly light clutch pedal and is a delight to use with no clutch judder and perfect, smooth take up of power. Chuffed as a chuffed thing and looking forward to taking it on its first proper road trip tomorrow.

 Re: My 2cv
Jonathan, you will keep an eye on the clutch pedal free play with this one, I hope. That can change quite quickly with a new kit, as the clutch undergoes its initial 'bedding in'...
