 Re: Sudo Kubel
In my imagination I see a man standing in the car, one hand on the windowframe the other hand reaching diagonally forward and oh yeah, he also had a small mustache
This only means your'e doing a very very great job, want to see the car live.
b.t.w. that's why I don't like VW's I see always this little man with his little mustache.......

 Re: Sudo Kubel
Yeah i know what you mean. I dont really do politics tho, although that person you speak of does fasinate me for a number of reasons, but my reason for building this replica is purely because ive always wanted a 'real' Kubelwagen but cannot afford the crazy prices they are fetching i.e. £40,000 - £50,000. Further more my interests are with 2cv's and i really like building 'one off' vehicles. I dont think this has been done before and unless someone gives me a large ammount of money, it wont be done again (not by me anyway). One thing is for sure though, i wont be standing up doing any salute's of any nature in this vehicle, i have way too much respect for anyone who lost their lives at the hands of 'that person'

I dont think this has been done before and unless someone gives me a large ammount of money, it wont be done again (not by me anyway). That's why I made a Sahara lookalike years ago. My self build handmade Sahara 2 times 602cc Chassis Ami 8 and at the moment I'm building a 4x4 with a chassis which is never been done (I think) viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2301I like always the fact that nobody sees how much work you put into it to get a result. (I know it's crazy). ( Making my own sills taking me a day for example and when they are finished nobody will notice it). I think it will be very much the same with your car. So my deepest respect for your project (and what are politics)

You can definitely see it now Tony. I like to see one off things made like this, when painted will it be a desert theatre colour or temperate? By the way I came across some photo's which I believe are yours on Flikr, you have some nice pic's on there.

 Re: Sudo Kubel
Cracking job, Tony. Did you ever consider using Stainless steel sheet for the panels, or is it too hard/costly/difficult to weld/etc? Lpgo, oooooh, that's another really nice colour: Can I ask what it is? Is the photo a close likeness to the actual shade?

 Re: Sudo Kubel
Stainless steel??? Nah, that would have weighed a ton and been a bastard to weld. Paint colour is gonna be the Normandy three colour camo scheme as the photo below. Done some more on the Kubel. Fitted the rear tow hooks and the bumpers. Also fitted a fake starter handle hole because the original Kubelwagen would have had a VW beetle type engine in the rear compartment (where my boot space will now be) Also welded on the fake tank filler cap.

 Re: Sudo Kubel
tony instead of taking a pic of the computer screen, hit the print screen button and then upload it to a file sharing sight (bettwe quality!)
is the fake filler cap to deter theft of fuel? where i am, alot of fuel goes missing from boats, ive often been tempted to leave a couple of cans of "petrol" un locked (locked ones still get nicked!) and accidently fill them with salt water, serve the bastards right!
