why you need a forklift to put the tub on?? would of thiught the 4 of you could have lifted it??
did mine with only 3 of us!

I guess it was that they had a Forklift to hand - its not that they're heavy, but when you have one lying around it'd be rude not to use it.

Like Neil said, why struggle? We used the forks for the shell, the engine and box and the front suspension. Why struggle? We would have had to carry that body across the farm and hold it 6ft up to weld it.

Post Re: 1988 2cv D*lly bits and bobs
well its been a week or two since my last installment, ive been quite idle recently with doing things to the car, had a bit of a field day today

i spent 2 and a half hours cleaning the outside of the car, I firstly washed car to get rid of dirt and marks etc, i hadnt cleaned car in about 3 months so the paint had some spotty staining, strange, but i then used G3 all around, to cut it back to a nice shine, then auto glym super polish resin, and here are the results, im dead chuffed, although im a bit over protective about keeping it shiny now

anyway:

i also got my new seats from matt damper, they look sweet as, i saved for ages to get them, and they are soooo worth it and nice :)

Im also making a tie rod adjuster tool, I remeber russ or chris mentioning someone had cut the head off a 9mm ratchet spanner, so I bought a cheap one of Ebay, and am going to try and make one and probably fail but will try anyway at work tommorrow :D

ps, never appriated how nice apline white is until now :D

forgot to add, I also changed the gearbox oil on monday, a job ive been meaning to do for a year,

the oil was very dirty and disgusting, what is the correct intervals for the gearbox oil?
I remeber seeing somewhere that it was about 3K?

Since changing the gearbox oil, it would seem its easier to change gear, and a lot smoother gear shifting

James,your car is looking lush :D .
Your seats look really lovely.I agree,Alpine white looks good.
Just one thing,no sticker on the boot hinge. :o .Well,I have just received the ones I originally ordered. They are die cut and look great.I will dig out your address and send you one.
Couldnt stop yesterday, had to get back to Cardiff.Anyway, apart from sending you a pm,I,ve got no way of getting hold of you
You mention spots on your paintwork in your post,Are they whiteish by any chance?
My D*lly has that problem.Give it a clean, nice and shiney, then it rains leaving white marks on the paintwork.Pain in the ass :( .
