 Re: Yet another red spesh...
I drove this to work yesterday and got as far as the petrol station before noticing I'd left the oil filler open, so now the car is absolutely coated in oil, which helpfully splattered all over the fan and therefore travelled quite some distance.
Dick. Head.

Russell wrote: That's about the size of it, yup. We've all done it, mate. Some of us several times... My best one was my old man's Cavalier estate - I was about 16/17, and we were going to do some work at a brand new Sainsbury's that hadn't opened (he supplied the fish filleting benches to their fresh fish depts). It burnt a bit of oil, so he had me check and top it up before we left. Got down there, and the car park had JUST been finished - they'd only painted the lines the day before. You've never seen a supermarket car park so _immaculate_. Parked in the space right in front of the main doors, went in, did the work, came out - and there's a lake of oil under the front of the car... We buggered off round the corner sharpish before opening the bonnet. No filler cap within sight - and, of course, it wasn't tethered like on a 2cv. I got SO much grief for that. Until he did the exact same thing himself a few months later. Strangely, it went quiet then... The original oil filler cap that I'd lost was found when he had a new starter motor on it - wedged between starter and block. The VW one that got chucked on it and he lost was never seen again.

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
Spilled out over the floor 2,5 liters of oil looks like a lake.. Recently left one at a unmanned fuel station... While fuelling, the oil kept dripping from the enginebay.. Even at home and at work the first days the car kept marking it's territory;) Thanks to the soundproofing in the bonnet

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
well, mines completly ireelevant when it comes with cars, i was processing some cooking oil, for my friends truck, and it goes through several processes, and theres one stage where i empty a 200l drum into 20l to take somewhere else, i opend the tap to put the oil in can, mean while, i go for a rumage in the skip oppiste, find a load of sawdust, said to my friend oh thisll be good for a oil spillage.... so iwalk back into workshop, and id spilt about 5 litres of cooking oil, so cleaned it up with saw dust, etc, and a hoover, so continued to fill another can, went to do something else, came back, anotehr 5 litres on the floor, so repeated the same process, saw dust, hoover etc, and that was fine and all that,
came into the workshop the next day, my friend jokingly went, oh shit its everywhere, and we walked in, the hoover had leaked, as we hadnt emptied it, and it was all over the floor, again
weve all done it russ! in one way or another

 Re: Yet another red spesh...
It's first 2cv meeting, Spa. There and back no drama. Still some suspension issues to sort, but it's a nice little car to drive. It would benefit from much, much longer gearing on motorways. Something that's a legacy of having those low profile tyres on it. I'm not sure I can bring myself to sell it now. Having looked at the first pictures of it when I bought it (got arse raped) to seeing it on the track at Spa, I actually quite like it and I'm sort of proud, although yes, it's a common or garden gay as heck red special, which are almost as bad as owning a D*lly, It actually feels harder to sell than the Ami was, which is saying something. I guess I'll keep hold of it for a while longer, and maybe make it more extreme over the winter...
