Here you are incase it's of any use to anyone, I'm pretty sure that they're Honda VFR exhaust studs. They're 8mm one end and 7mm the other.

I've just reread the question and if your 8mm thread is a bit weak they wouldn't really help would they.

Either drill the hole out to a 10mm thread and make a stepped stud or weld the hole up and redrill it, which is what I said earlier, rendering this post unnecessary and pointless. I'll shut up then.

Still a good idea Joolz, I don't know why I've started worrying about it (maybe because I sorted the big pile of heads out and they are mostly scrap) but I really don't want to bin the head simply because of that.

I fixed the broken stud by drilling right through the head, trimming back some of the cooling fins (only slightly) and putting a nut and bolt right through it. It's not leaking yet...

All the little jobs are done (or ignored) so I'm ready to head to france!

It's now back on 4 Michelin 135s, and it goes where it's meant to now! Mabors are in the bin.

Tried my best to get some more from the stereo, but I'm afraid I need either another amp and two more subs or maybe a 15" solobaric. I don't know if two more 12" subs will make it any louder. I'm a fuckwit when it comes to wood, I don't understand it as a material and it's a bastard to weld, so thankfully my dad took pity on me and made a new floor out of MDF, he also found a coil that came from my old Fiat 126, looks very similar to a Harley coil, we wired it up but then realised that the plug leads were different, so if i get chance i'll nip down town tomorrow and get some to try it out.

looking forward to france!

The fleamarket in Giel, despite being bastard pricey and full of what I'd consider scrap, still managed to relieve me of a fortune. The cross car got its wings and the Ami got this set of Peugeot wheels. they're a bit wider and look slightly different to 2cv wheels, without being a fyull on alloy that looks pants on a 60s car.

Not sure on tyres yet, maybe I'll see if a 135 mich will fit, if that's too small then 145 mich, if not that, I'll be very very loathed to fit modern looking low profile tyres, or even worse, wanky 'tyres' like mabors.

Are you gonna have to trim the hub cap captive nuts off to clear the rear wings?

Author:  Russell [ May 19th, 2010, 10:35 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: 1967 Ami6 Break

I thought I'd have to, but they do actually fit ok, just. however, the captive nuts look a bit silly like they are so I'll probably remove them and fill the centre hole up anyway.
