Should the shocker mounts be the same as car ones or do vans have a diffrent kind?

It would be interesting to see the whole thing removed from the shock, and with measurements of each end. Was the end that was in the chassis 12 or 14mm in diameter? If it was 12, and you can't get the remains of the old one out, I would have thought you *might* get away with installing a slightly shortened new one..? Oh, and if it was mine, I'd stick with the original tail lights, and add extra round indicators. *possibly* extra round brake lights as well, as I reckon they're more visible if a seperate bit lights up, rather than a twin filament bulb. 'snot mine though!

Adrian, I was thinking more in terms of that part of Hetty's 42 years prior to your period of ownership. From what I've seen on imported cars, France has more than its fair share of bodgers... ken. toomany2cvs wrote: They haven't been touched in the time we had the van...

This is whats irking me about faffing around with drills, taps, centre punches and EZ outs - it's been fine all through Adrians ownership!!!!

Trouble with that theory is that before we bought Het, she'd been VERY heavily restored (refabricated, pretty much) in the UK then primarily maintained by reputable specialists. Mainly, that nice Mr Abbott...

Re: Belgian built 1969 AK350 'Hetty'
Being Dollyless I did the 30min walk followed by the 20min wait for the inevitably late train, the 15mins on the train and the further 10min walk the other end to get to Hetty today. Yes - that's dedication! Fitted the CD player. It stank of smoke and dust so gave it a blast with some compressed air James mentioned in anothe rhtread fitting CD players - The casing is a standard universal DIN underdash mount. When you buy a head unit it comes with a cage that slots into this, its secured by bending out little tabs that grip the mount and fits well. The head unit then slides into the cage. Bobs your uncle Need to buy some speakers now. Currently thinking two 4" vibes in a length of drain pipe under the front seats same as D*lly and then either the same or 2 5x7s in speaker boxes in the back. I'll put the wiring in for a sub which I can then swap between cars

The metalwork that supports the dash has loads of filler on it to 'smooth' it into the bulkhead as does the area around the vent flap mount... weird. Adrian, in your ownership, was the drivers door handle at the front ever connected to the locking mechanism at the back? Thinking i might try reconnecting it like the passenger side.

Probably Had a fiddle today but couldn't mate it up. I'll probably take the 'modern' mechanism out completely then and cover the hole over.
