Thanks Becky, it is special Camouflage paint with 2 seperate colours in 1 can that comes out of the nozzle stripey!!

All I used is some basic Brown & Green hobby spray paint on top of a Ford Sahara Yellow base coat. I made up a stencil and sprayed the brown first. Then the Green using the same stencil - simple as that. Actually I forgot to shake the Green can when I first used it hence the two different shades, but I think that's a bonus. If anyone's thinking about doing the same, it's important lay the stencil fairly loose on the object to be painted to get a feathered edge, as camouflage is supposed to be fairly random and not too uniform.

As for the tent, I have got it in a big bag along with a collection of poles (and Lithuanians :? ) but haven't got round to working out how it all goes together yet.

How to make a wing mounting bracket for your Bedouin in 8 easy stages.

1. Get a piece of hefty angle iron (a piece previously used for holding a lean-to roof up or bracing for welding the toe-board in a Bedouin will do  ), 2 lengths of square tube and an angled piece of zinc coated metal from the scrap metal bin

Image

2. Cut 2 pieces of hefty angle iron 60x100mm and drill holes corresponding to the bumper bracket holes in your chassis.

3. Offer up the pieces of square tube to the inside of your tapered Bedouin wings so that you can workout the correct angle & profile at the bottom where they will meet the previously fabricated brackets.

4. Grind the bottom of the tubes to the profile worked out in step 3 & remove any paint from the items to be welded.

5. Weld the square tubes to the brackets.

Image

6. Fix the brackets to the mounting points and offer up the zinc coated top piece in order to work out position & profile.

Image

7. Remove zinc coating from the edges to be welded and weld top piece to brackets.

Image

8. Fix completed bracket assembly to the car and grind the tops of the bracket where it meets the top of the wings (still to be done).

With this design, the bumper bracket holes can still be used to attach a tubular Bedouin bumper and the top bracket can be used to attach wiring or any flat front panels that you may wish to fabricate at a later date.

Post Re: Belinda the Bedouin
I brought a wiring loom that Tim kindly donated home with me this weekend so that I can work out where all the bits of spaghetti go. At first I didn't know where to start but I guessed a good place would be the fuse box so taking each fuse in turn, I worked my way along the cables. By working out how the different wires split off each circuit, I managed to find where most of them went to using these diagrams http://http://www.2cvstuff.com/Files...0Post%2081.pdf. Thankfully, a lot of the connectors are still present and coloured, so once I get it back to the car the rest will become apparant.

hope you don't mind me saying, but I think a flat front would be nicer, Just my opinion tho!

I'm going to have a go at making a flat front next week and see what I prefer I think Louise. I have been leaning towards the flat front, but then again the current one is unique and I like being different!!

The old Goat has suggested I could even incorporate some chevrons into the grill, so I'll see what I can come up with-what do you reckon?

I like the top one myself, Bertie, FWIW! 8-)

Look forward to seeing what you've managed to produce...

Post Re: Belinda the Bedouin
I decided to start off by fitting the steering column last night which I really should have done before I fitted the offside wing, but it wasn't that hard in the end. The only problem I did encounter was difficulty in fitting the bolt and clamp which was explained half an hour later when I realised that I'd pushed the column too far onto the splines so that I couldn't locate the bolt through the groove - DOH!!!!

After this I turned my attention to the wiring. First of all, I looked through what was left of the original wiring fitted to the car to see what could be used, if anything. Luckily, the main battery +ve terminal to starter motor lead was intact and whats more, the terminal has a rubber protector with it which is nice. The replacement engine already had an earth lead and -ve battery terminal attached, so that was just as nice.

For a while, I tried to unravel the loom that Tim gave me into a logical layout having identified and labelled it over the weekend, but as soon as I got one part sorted out, another part would seem to get tangled, so in the end I decided to dismantle it at the fusebox and work my way from there. Initially I want to divide the loom between internal wiring and engine bay in order to sort out the wires that go through the bulkhead as there is a butchered square hole at the moment which I want to replace with some nice metal, a nice round hole and a grommet.

It was suggested a while ago that I should start from scratch and build a new loom instead of trying to employ an existing loom. Well it seems quite feasible for me to compromise by dismantling the loom, route it circuit by circuit and then re-tape it. That way I can upgrade any parts such as the fusebox as has been suggested.

No pictures because wiring isn't that interesting really.

My Peugeot is in for it's MOT this morning, so dependant on the outcome, I may be working on that tonight
:?

Post Re: Belinda the Bedouin
Well seeing as my A-B shed got through its MOT yesterday it was back to Belinda last night and the only really big thing I got done was to sort the ghastly hole in the bulkhead. It was a bit fiddly because of the proximity of the heater tube and a channel that I've no idea what the purpose of is, but with a bit of patience, it got done. After estimating how many wires will be transiting from the cabin to the engine bay, I cut a hole in the new metal, painted it with some trusty black hammerite and inserted a grommet.

The rest of the evening was spent tidying up some bits I'd done elsewhere and picking through the wiring loom a bit more. I've discovered that some connections where the various circuits branch off are starting to fray, so I'm off to our friendly Electrical Servicing Section this afternoon to get some insulated inline crimps.

More wiring last night - and I can see every post I make in this thread beginning with those same words for the next few weeks!!

I began with looming in some new (well, donated from a dead Corsa) wires from the +ve battery terminal to the fusebox location.

Image

Then I decided to make a bracket to mount the voltage regulator on the bulkhead.

Image

After that (and for no particular reason), I thought it was time to make a good instrument panel out of 2 incomplete ones I had and make sure it still fitted the car

Image

Then as time was getting on, I finished the evening by making up some small attachment clips for the headlamp looms to attach to on the inside of the wings.

Image

If anyone can make use of an speedometer, let me know?
