 Re: Joolz's Red One
Bodywork. I've put some new metal in the rear window. I'm not under any illusions about this looking nice, I'm hoping some careful fettling with the grinder will leave it looking alright. The bits in the corners that look like they're only tacked are actually welded on the back. Constructive criticism welcomed. The curved bits still need some shaping, there was so little left it was hard to wok out exactly how big they needed to be. And it's only been done with stainless because there's a lot of scrap bits of it around here.

Once that's been ground back you'll never know. Except it won't rust again.

Re: the window frame, I'm sure it'll be alright when it's finished and hidden by the rubber, but the only good thing about it is that I've pulled my finger out and done it. Unfortunately proper work is keeping me too busy to finish it at the moment.

 Re: Joolz's Red One
And re: the BMW pics. That sort of thing is always interesting although quite different to how I've done mine. I think however that it's very similar if not the same as the way pembleton do their's, I wonder if the two were developed independently, or if that's one of their kits.
The differences in bolt patterns, flywheels, and starter positions, between the 'Airhead' and later 'Oilhead' engines would make it impossible to mount an 1150 this way.
And I wonder why he changed back to the 2CV engine, rather than supercharging the BMW.

 Re: Joolz's Red One
I've not shared this before, but just incase anyone else is as geeky as me about this sort of thing there's a link here to someone's pembleton build blog. http://www.11tinkers.com/Brooklands_Hom.htmlThere's a lot of good pictures in there somewhere showing how the BM engine and 2CV box are connected. If I remember rightly he had a fair few problems with the engine, cylinder head studs stripping out of the block I think. Although I suspect he was over torquing them personally.

 Re: Joolz's Red One
A couple of hours with the grinder, wire brush wheel, abrasive wheel in the drill, and even a file, I think it's as good as it's going to get. There are a few pin holes and low points in the weld, but I've put on a coat of brush primer and hopefully once it's rubbed down it'll help smooth it off. The temperature's in the mid 20s here and the paint was drying on the brush, so it's full of brush marks and looks a bit crap. When it goes on a bit thick it can take a long time to harden properly, which'll make rubbing it down difficult. When it cools down a bit I may thin the paint down and put on another coat, to try and fill the brush marks in the first.
