 Re: Spanners new friend 8
I've had a full on 10 hour weldathon today and managed to get shitloads done. Well, you wouldn't necessarily know it to look at but, I can assure you, a lot of progress has been made! However, I'm a miserable fat hairy bastard and can't be bothered to put photos on tonight. So, I'll upload photos tomorrow when it's finished........ Okay, so finished might be a little optimistic but I doubt it'll be too far off by tomorrow night!

Really impressed with your work on another lush Ami - great colour too this photo above; is that basically the inside of a sill? and the red paint original primer??? will you have to cut the new sill to butt it up to where the rear seat floor raises?? i've found a few bad areas of rot in mine - text book places, bump-stops, A posts, lower bulkhead on one side - pretty sure the floors have been replaced in mine.... keep up the good work Will - he who got that box off of you about 2.5 years ago...

 Re: Spanners new friend 8
So, I was a bit more than "a little opstimistic" about having it fineshed tonight, there's still shedloads to do-still, you can't rush perfection eh? Anyway, I've managed to get the drivers toeboard, floor and sill in but I still have to repair the A-pillar, the rear seatbelt mount and the inner wing but, I'm not grumbling too much, they're an absolute bastard to do floors and sills on so, to get this side done as quickly as I have pleases me! Shit photo time!! Firstly, I had to cut even more out of her Before making up a new outer toeboard section (using the sheet metal folder Mrs Spanners bought me for Christmas ) and welded that in Followed, naturally, by the inner toeboard section Then I welded the floor and sill in If you look carefully, you may be able to make out where I butt welded the sill along the side of the seatbox-I'm rather proud of that bit And all this was done with only one injury, a red hot lump of welding spatter burnt straight through my thumbnail. Doesn't look much but, feck, it hurts!

 Re: Spanners new friend 8
I thought after my most recent posts, perhaps I'd go back to being calm, mild mannered Spanners and give a mini update on this Ami of mine. Been feeling crap over the weekend so didn't get a huge load of work done on it but, the end could just about be in sight now. Well, for the welding anyway! I repaired the bottom of the A-pillar and joined the front of the sill to everything else it's supposed to be joined to so, fairly usefull I guess. Next stop, the rear seatbelt mount and inner arch..................

 Re: Spanners new friend 8
Right, the plan with this is to get my arse into gear and get all the MOT work finished ASAP and get her MOTd.
I've got the first week in April off to fit my new kitchen (that should be fun-I'm a bit like Frank Spencer when it comes to DIY!) so am hoping to have it registered by then or, if needs be, take it for inspection that week and get it on the road.......
Needless to say, I'll keep everyone up to date.
