Post Re: sidney has entered the building

truly the first start up done this morning !!!

seems to work well, choke works and when warm and choke in ticks over solid and slow, warmed up the engine for 10 minutes and just knocked off the oil filter for oil change with hot oil

now I need filter and gaskets etc

also I need to sort out the weird hole on the bottom of the fuel tank as at the moment it comes from a bottle

super cool!!

Great video, looking at/hearing it gives me goosebumps all over my body...
Sounds/looks like a great engine to me, doesn't need any overhaul... Congrats..

Keep up the good work.....

Just find a later ('80s) plastic tank.

That's an easy repair compared to what you've already done :P

so about this turbo then chris?..where do I put it??

banjo tank done mate. easy peasy, repainted and its back in and lovely :)

the cross box...blimey they don´t leave much tolerance to get that thing in and out do they!, I told you the old lady driver from before was into off roading!....look at this, must be difficult to do and standard height surely

while its out i´m degreasing and cleaning up everything (and repainting the tin work with heat resistant paint up to 400degrees c, should be ok no?)

finding all sorts of new shapes and colours under the brown and black

found what I assume to be the gearbox filler plug (with another mysterious yellow cross), but the bolt at the right of it? whats it for, theres one on the other side also and they are loose or missing, so not the drain plug, any ideas?

That's for hanging the exhaust crossbox from, so the exhaust doesn't take the weight. There's one the other side.

But - that's an "old-style" box. Good ol' Vigo, using up shite that France had binned years before. Those boxes died in the 2cv way before your car, I'm sure. Anybody know exactly when? Cats's site doesn't say.
